The first Chiropractic adjustment was performed by D.D. Palmer on September 18, 1895 in Davenport, Iowa. The patient's hearing was restored!! Palmer was practicing as a magnetic healer at the time. He repositioned one vertebra! In 1897, Palmer founded the first Chiropractic school on this very site. By the Centennial year, Chiropractic was practiced by approximately 60,000 in 50 countries. Their medical background and requirements are stringent both in their education, as well as, examinations to pass their National Boards. They are at this time the 3rd largest health care profession in the country. After much research, I have learned a great deal about the profession and it was with disbelief how this group of dedicated men and women had to fight for their right to practice their chosen field. In 1965, the AMA labeled Chiropractic as "consorting with quackery"! It was discovered by the AMA that doctors were referring and working with the Chiropractors and a committee was appointed by the AMA named "Committee on Quackery"! Demeaning this profession by using words "cult" and "unscientific". Not only just in words, but Chiropractors were arrested and jailed! The AMA took action against their own by disallowing hospital privileges to any member associated with Chiropractic. Please read on this story gets better!
MD's admit they have almost no knowledge of 60% of the musculoskeletal system and that 40% of hospital patients need Chiropractic care!!! In 1987, after an 11 year court battle, THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS, AND THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGY, were found in the U. S. District Court of having conspired to destory the profession of Chiropractic in the United States!!! It is suggested that the conspiracy organized by the AMA is directly responsible for the mushrooming explosion of health costs in this country. They were ordered by this court that all members of the AMA receive written instructions that it was now ethical for a medical physician to professionally associate with Chiropractors, provided it is believed to benefit his patient. A slap on the wrist!! The evidence in court even presented by the AMA proved, without a doubt, that Chiropractor's education, as well as, their profession, proved to be scientific and improved patient's health, cut hospital time and relieved pain and suffering. To me, this is frighting. Does the AMA's oath "To Do No Harm" really care about their fellow man? A Chiropractor in your area can give you the same information in writing as above written. If a medical doctor says quackery to your questions about Chiropractic--this doctor is breaking the law!!! These are the facts...
Several physicians on the board of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society take the stand that Chiropractic can irritate nerves and cause excerbations. How can this be???(In writing-"Inside MS") If the nervous system is in working ordering with Chiropractic, and nerves are not being pinched and vital nerve supply cut off by displaced vertebra, doesn't it make very good sense that the nervous system will be healthier?? Sure it does, think about it. What is happening here?? My thought is that if we are sick, the more the AMA and drug companies profit by our illness. It is up to us to seek out ways of keeping ourselves healthy. After all, what do you have to lose? I know that in the past two years, even after a trauma, no excerbations, no progression, and to me that says it all. Thanks Dr. B. for helping to keep me well. My hope is that all of you will consider this, and find your own Dr. B. Listen to the facts, no side effects, a better way of life, not costing tens of thousand dollars each year, and it doesn't hurt!!!! If your own neurologist says no to Chiropractic--be brave, ask him why not?? Make him really tell you why not?? Get tough, this is YOUR body and YOUR choice.
Do research, be informed, participate in your own health. Be willing to give it a fair chance. We with MS are noted for trying one thing after the other, but not giving anything a fair chance to work. Do not settle. MS does not have to control your life. Life is too beautiful to miss one second. I refuse to let this disease take control of my life and my mind. I also refuse to be taken advantage of. I am not suggesting that you give up your M.D., however, I am suggesting not to give into the MS either. Both our Chiropractors and M.D.'s are vital to our well-being. I wish the best for all of you! There are studies to prove my points made here. Check them out!
