"History Of Chiropractic How And Why It Works"

The first Chiropractic adjustment was performed by D.D. Palmer on September 18, 1895 in Davenport, Iowa. The patient's hearing was restored!! Palmer was practicing as a magnetic healer at the time. He repositioned one vertebra! In 1897, Palmer founded the first Chiropractic school on this very site. By the Centennial year, Chiropractic was practiced by approximately 60,000 in 50 countries. Their medical background and requirements are stringent both in their education, as well as, examinations to pass their National Boards. They are at this time the 3rd largest health care profession in the country. After much research, I have learned a great deal about the profession and it was with disbelief how this group of dedicated men and women had to fight for their right to practice their chosen field. In 1965, the AMA labeled Chiropractic as "consorting with quackery"! It was discovered by the AMA that doctors were referring and working with the Chiropractors and a committee was appointed by the AMA named "Committee on Quackery"! Demeaning this profession by using words "cult" and "unscientific". Not only just in words, but Chiropractors were arrested and jailed! The AMA took action against their own by disallowing hospital privileges to any member associated with Chiropractic. Please read on this story gets better!

MD's admit they have almost no knowledge of 60% of the musculoskeletal system and that 40% of hospital patients need Chiropractic care!!! In 1987, after an 11 year court battle, THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS, AND THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGY, were found GUILTY in the U. S. District Court of having conspired to destory the profession of Chiropractic in the United States!!! It is suggested that the conspiracy organized by the AMA is directly responsible for the mushrooming explosion of health costs in this country. They were ordered by this court that all members of the AMA receive written instructions that it was now ethical for a medical physician to professionally associate with Chiropractors, provided it is believed to benefit his patient. A slap on the wrist!! The evidence in court even presented by the AMA proved, without a doubt, that Chiropractor's education, as well as, their profession, proved to be scientific and improved patient's health, cut hospital time and relieved pain and suffering. To me, this is frighting. Does the AMA's oath "To Do No Harm" really care about their fellow man? A Chiropractor in your area can give you the same information in writing as above written. If a medical doctor says quackery to your questions about Chiropractic--this doctor is breaking the law!!! These are the facts...

How and Why=Chiropractic is a drug-free way of helping our bodies stay in balance. Every function of the human body is controlled by the nervous system. If a vertebra is missed placed or out of alignment pressing on delicate nerves, interference which reduces the signals sent by the brain, make our lives unbearable with pain and numbness. Every headache, every pain, that's our signal that something is wrong. As Americans what have we been taught by the medical profession and drug companies? Take a pill!!!! Drugs only mask these problems. Drugs tell our internal get-well systems that they will take over the work that our wonderful bodies can and are meant to do. We are spoiled. It is easier to take a pill. Our doctors are teaching us sickness, not wellness. We are not being taught to let our body do it's own beautifully designed job and that is to be well. Chiropractic help keep our bodies and nervous systems, with adjustments to function at an optimum level, safely and naturally. However, this takes time-not as quick as pain medicine but so much better for our health. The beauty of Chiropractic is no side effects. Another good point to make less than 15% of spinal subluxations are evidenced by pain or symptoms. Known to Chiropractors as the "Silent Killers". This weakens and irritates the nerves and increases degeneration. Another fact, it is understood that a variety of diseases reveal complex interactions between the nervous system and the immune system. Neurological complications are associated with a breakdown in normal immune system functioning. The fear from the medical profession and drug companies is that we will finally learn this and their pocketbooks will suffer as a result.

The above are facts, I want to share with you my personal account of using Chiropractic as a vital part of controlling my own MS. In 1989, I had my first appointment with Dr. B. I presented with numbness and tingling when bringing my head forward. Known to those of us with MS as the dreaded L'Hermitte's sign. He treated, I got better and all was forgotten until 1992 when I had my first major flare with MS. Again I presented with the same signs to him and in September of that year, double vision decided to take control. In addition to working with Dr. B, I was shipped around to various doctors, all who, just didn't know. Dr. B ordered my MRI and along with my internist, who thought I had a brain tumor, sent me to Duke Medical Center and I was diagnosed with MS in November 1992. I started Bee Venom Therapy in March, 1993 and with Dr. B's help in locating nerve points, I got better. In February, 1996, I had a wreck and crashed into 4 deer. Again, learning from my past, I called Dr. B and for the past two years, he has pulled me through once again. Sometimes, I feel like an accident waiting to happen. With all this, I found out that Chiropractic controls muscle spasms really well, and I sure have my share of those from the MS!! He is able to relieve any numbness, prickly, burning sensations. Fact is, I trust him with my life and my family. My girls drive for an hour and a half to come home to see him. They couldn't find a Dr. B. in their area. We are just really spoiled to his gentle, kind, wise, and caring spirit. We found the best and we are lucky he chose to locate here. I know he is only a phone call away if I get into trouble. He teaches us to be well not ill.

Several physicians on the board of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society take the stand that Chiropractic can irritate nerves and cause excerbations. How can this be???(In writing-"Inside MS") If the nervous system is in working ordering with Chiropractic, and nerves are not being pinched and vital nerve supply cut off by displaced vertebra, doesn't it make very good sense that the nervous system will be healthier?? Sure it does, think about it. What is happening here?? My thought is that if we are sick, the more the AMA and drug companies profit by our illness. It is up to us to seek out ways of keeping ourselves healthy. After all, what do you have to lose? I know that in the past two years, even after a trauma, no excerbations, no progression, and to me that says it all. Thanks Dr. B. for helping to keep me well. My hope is that all of you will consider this, and find your own Dr. B. Listen to the facts, no side effects, a better way of life, not costing tens of thousand dollars each year, and it doesn't hurt!!!! If your own neurologist says no to Chiropractic--be brave, ask him why not?? Make him really tell you why not?? Get tough, this is YOUR body and YOUR choice. Do research, be informed, participate in your own health. Be willing to give it a fair chance. We with MS are noted for trying one thing after the other, but not giving anything a fair chance to work. Do not settle. MS does not have to control your life. Life is too beautiful to miss one second. I refuse to let this disease take control of my life and my mind. I also refuse to be taken advantage of. I am not suggesting that you give up your M.D., however, I am suggesting not to give into the MS either. Both our Chiropractors and M.D.'s are vital to our well-being. I wish the best for all of you! There are studies to prove my points made here. Check them out!

Print is made large enough to read by MS patients with visual problems. It is my hope that you gained something very important. This page was researched and written for all of us with Multiple Sclerosis. My desire is to share with you the other side of professionals who are also concerned with us, the victims of a non-curable disease. Chiropractic has studies on Multiple Sclerosis. These studies are documented and available for their patients to review.
