Howdy I'm Fishin' Queen. Glad you came by to visit!

My name is Sam (I'm a female). I've been happily wed to my bestest friend, Phil, for 29 years. We have 2 grown children; J.R. (Phil Jr.) 28, and Sarah, 25; and 4 grandchildren; Anna, 5....Jimmy,4....Amanda 3....and our newest granddaughter, Jamie, 9 months. Our son and his wife, Christie, and our grandbabies live in Tennessee. Our daughter is single and lives in "The Cabin", further along on our Muddy Rock Farm.



We live in the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains in southwest Washington state. This is truly "God's Country" and just perfect for us. Go east about 100 miles and you're in the desert....go west about 100 miles and you're at the Pacific Ocean. 300 miles (give or take a few) north or south, and you're in Canada or California. This location is truly ideal for our tastes.

My husband enjoys hunting for just about anything with fur or feathers.....also fishing for anything with fins, and some things in shells. As a side interest, he's also a very talented woodworker.
I love to fish and to hunt for birds. I also enjoy doing all kinds of "crafty" things, from needlework, crochet, and "crafty" sewing (making clothes is too much like working for me...I do it, but I don't enjoy it!) to whittling and woodworking. I read incessantly, just about anything that strikes my fancy, but mostly sci-fi, mysteries, and adventure type stories. I always take a book along with me wherever I go.

"Star Trek" and anything to do with outer space is also a hobby of mine...."Beam me up, Scotty!" (Be sure to follow my links to some really great trekkie sites!)


But our passion, is frugal living! It began as a necessity early on in our marriage, and has since become almost an obsession. If we need (or want) something, it has become a challenge for us to either figure out how to make it ourselves, or otherwise acquire whatever-it-is for little or no cash outlay or for barter....and we are in need or want of nothing, thank you very much!

More to come about all of our adventures fishing and hunting and living our frugal and often a little bit crazy lifestyle on our Muddy Rock Farm, as this site is always "under construction".
