Palms of the
Honolulu
Botanical Gardens
Honolulu is the capital city of the state of Hawai`i, and is
located on the island of O`ahu. The city has five Botanical Gardens.
Because of the mountains on the island there are many different
"micro climates" within miles of each other. I have chosen this page
as a personal project and by no means is it meant to be any kind of
official city web site.
Historic Foster Botanical
Garden is located in downtown Honolulu and is
ideal for the growth of plants requiring a sub-tropical
climate.
Lili`uokalani Botanical Garden
once part of Foster Botanical Garden, but now separated
from it by the H-1 Freeway is 7.5 acres with a stream and waterfalls.
This garden is primarly dedicated to growing native Hawaiian
plants.
Wahi`awa Botanical Garden, at
1,000 feet elevation in central O`ahu provides the conditions deeded
by plants from the cool, humid tropics.
Koko Crater Botanical Garden is
being developed with dryland/xeriscape plants in a hot 200 acre site
at the south eastern end of O`ahu.
