There are some wonderful sources available. For example,Watauga County Heritage, Vols. 1 & 2, and J.P. Arthur's A History of Watauga County North Carolina are two popular sources. Please keep in mind that any such source is only as good as the documentation which backs it up. Such sources should be used only as a "spring board" for going after the documents to back them up.
