You can write your government official and tell them your feelings...
Stiffer penelties for those caught drinking and driving! Longer and tougher sentences for those convicted of drunk driving! Let them know how a drunk driver has effected your life or someone you know. Let them hear the devistation that is left when someone is killed by a drunk driver!
Talk to the young...
If you have been effected by a drunk driver, let the younger generation know about it. Maybe start a program in your school district to talk about the effects of drunk driving. Contact your local fire department about putting on a "jaws of life" demonstration at the local high school.
Donate your time...
When ever there is a big celebration in your town and there will be drinking involved, volunteer to run a shuttle bus service. Enlist your friends or a service club in the area. You will be surprised at car rental agencies. Alot of the times they will donate a van to take people home in! Ask around, you never know until you ask.
Above all else...
Show your friends and family that you are not going to tolerate them driving drunk. Voice your opinions! If you see a car on the road and you suspect the driver is drunk, then immediatly phone the authorities! Do not hesitate! Even if you just think they might be drunk driving, please call and report them!
Everyone needs to drink responsibly. But NO one needs to drive drunk!
