The day was May 21,1986 around 5:00 P.M. in the afternoon time Hershel Alan Houchens was killed in an auto accident on the Hollow Rd. in Glasgow,Ky. He was only 27 years old when he died. He was in a car that hit a little tree. He was in the backseat. When they hit the little tree he went out the back glass and hit a fence post and then landed 50 feet into the field. Someone called an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived on the scene. There were 3 other guys hurt in that accident and one was under the car. One of the paramedics on the scene went over to Hershey and they worked on him and they said that he said a few words to him. They done CPR on him their on the scene and they said what killed him was his rib had punchered his heart. He had an enlarged heart. He was a loving and kind person. He is missed dearly by his family. He has been gone from us for 13 years now.

            TURN AGAIN TO LIFE

If I should die and leave you here a while,
Be not like others, sore undone, who keep
Long vigil by the silent dust and weep.
For my sake turn again to life and smile,
Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do
That which will comfort other souls than thine
Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine,
And I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

            There he lay

There he lay, hands on his lap
Nearly smiling, taking a heavenly nap
Millions of flowers are along the way
They have come to brighten my day
The wind is whistling a nice slow tune
            And animals are singing:
            "You're not alone
            This is your new home."

A MILLION TIMES WE'VE NEEDED YOU

A million times we've needed you
            A million times we've cried.
If love alone could have saved you
            You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still.
In our hearts we hold a memory
            No one else can fill.
It broke our hearts to let you go
But you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God took you home.

            We love you Hershell A.Houchens
