Galen Adam Southern

            November 9, 1978 - November 10, 1999


            Galen celebrated his 21 birthday on the evening of 9-10 Nov. He was with a group of eight kids in two cars. They visited 4 or 5 bars. Galen passed out at the last bar. They carried him into the house about 3:30 am but did not wake me up. I found him dead at 6:20 am. His blood alcohol content was .372. First he became brain dead then he stopped breathing.

            The good times roll throught my mind and warm my heart.

            I wish you had a second chance to camp at Big Lake in the White Mountains. We could fish for rainbow trout in the Black River. It was really cool when you caught that trout on the first cast from the big log. We could look for elk at sunset. We could go horeback riding again.

            Years ago, it was such a joy to pick you up from day care. When you saw me, you jumped up and ran at me. I would pick you up and swing you around. It was such a comfort to hold you in my arms. You were a real treasure
