Hi! It's me again, Gale, aka Flowerchild!

I enjoy not only reading other peoples' poems but I have been writing poetry myself for many years.

These are some of my older poems...
written before I met my wonderful husband Phil.

Love can be painful when you are with the wrong person and I'm lucky that I have now found someone to share my life with that gives me only good things to write about unlike most of the poems contained here which show a small part of my pain when I gave my love to the wrong men.

"Will I See the Sun Shine...
On a Day That Promised Rain?"

Reflections in the water
Of a life that I once knew
Drifting by me slowly
Like a dream that's coming true

And at the waters' edge I stop
To peer a little deeper
But I see myself reflected back
And think I'd like to meet her

Though she isn't smiling back at me
I try to smile at her
And I drop a pebble in
Just to see if she will stir

But she seems to be contented
Just to stand and stare at me
Still I don't understand
What it is that she can see

Does she see that I'm unhappy
And that my smile is being forced
Does she remember all the tears I shed
When I was here before

Can she see the loneliness
That I've tried so hard to hide
Can she see my body draining
Of the life that's left inside

When next I come to call on her
Will things still be the same
Or will I see the sun shine
On a day that promised rain?

"Waves"

I've never known a wave
That couldn't reach the shore
But what for?
Well, they're strong and they're determined
To reach the nearest shore
Still - what for?
Now their lives will soon be ended
When they die upon that shore
Oh, what for?
When they could have turned and run
And headed out to sea...
Just like me
I wish that I were brave
Just like the waves
That reached the shore...
Or didn't they know
What was
In store?

"Blinded By Pain"

I felt a pain so sharp
As to penetrate my heart
And it brought me to my knees
Made my eyes refuse to see

Yes, I was blinded by the hurt
As I knelt there in the dirt
And I raised my arms above me
And I begged to be set free

I first cried in quiet sorrow
On the edge of no tomorrow
I had lost my yesterday
And with it lost today

You had taken from my soul
The part that made me whole
You have no right to see
But the blinded one is me

Soon my voice gave way to screaming
In the dark my tears were gleaming
And as I cried your name
The pain drove me insane.

"He Lived For This Night"

The sun decends
Sets clouds ablaze
Awakening each new moon
And begins again
Another phase
That changes all too soon

Twinkling stars
Alive with light
Shining brilliant in the dark
Send their regards
To cheer the night
For at daybreak they must part

A quiet breeze
With whispers of spring
Blows across the land
It greets the sea
Then turns on wing
To beaches of white sand

Blue green waves
Slap aginst the beach
Like kittens as they play
And a foggy haze
Rolls beyond their reach
To stall the break of day

A lonely soul
Walks here alone
Amazed to see these sights
He has no goals
No place called home
He lived just for this night.

"Words Unspoken"

Too many words
Are left unspoken
Things we should have said
Merely lie upon our lips
Tomorrow we will say them
We tell ourselves each day
But tomorrow doesn't seem to come
And the words unspoken die away
As do the people who waited
For the words we did not say.

"Destined By Fate"

Love once came easy
And trust easier still
Until both came to hurt me
And left a void I can't fill

Yes, I once trusted blindly
And loved much the same
But I've since learned to see
Now I'm spared from the pain

I found that love can't be tested
For it too often fails
And once it has rested
Its' color soon pales

And trust should be earned
Then nurtured with care
And if given in return
It will always be shared

Though I found out too late
To erase what has past
I was destined by fate
To learn it at last.

"The Looking Glass"

The looking glass shows
Only what others can see
It cannot reflect
The inner me

If no one takes the time
To find what lies inside
They can never see
The person living in me

To those people I will be
A mere reflection of myself
A flat distorted image
With no depth or feeling

Why don't people take the time
To peer inside the mind
They meet, they pass, but still they see
Just a reflection in the glass.
