        LOOKUP: HOLY ROOD
I recently completed a list of gravestone inscriptions at Holy Rood cemetery.
If your Irish ancestors were in Georgetown in the 19th and early 20th centuries, they may well be buried here. This is by no means a complete list of burials. The cemetery is in sad shape, with many stones overturned and not readable. Many persons were buried without their names being placed on gravestones. However, I have over 2,000 names listed, some with information that may not be found on official death and burial records. Complete cemetery records (not including gravestone inscriptions) can be found at Georgetown University's Lauinger Library.

        LOOKUP: HOLY TRINITY BAPTISMS
My database of baptisms at this catholic church in Georgetown currently covers April 1858 through the end of 1862 and includes over 1,200 baptisms. Entries include name of person being baptized, father's name, mother's name (usually maiden), dates of birth and baptism, sponsors, and occasional other information. I can sort by all categories. The original records are housed at Georgetown University's Lauinger Library.

        LOOKUP: ROSTER - D.C. FD 1876
Complete roster of the D.C. Fire Dept. Organized by company, it shows name, position, age, occupation, and home address. Source: "1876 Annual Report of the D.C. Commissioners" available at the Martin Luther King Library in Washington.

        LOOKUP: ROSTER - D.C. FD 1894
Same as for 1876 but the roster also includes the date of appointment to the Fire Dept. Also included are lists of resignations, removals, retirements, promotions, reductions in rank, reinstatements, widows pensions, casualties, and deaths. Source "1894 Annual Report of the D.C. Commissioners" Available at the King Library.

        LOOKUP: ENTRANCE BOOKS
The Georgetown College (now Univ.) Rector's Entrance Books contain information about students who entered the school between 1809 and 1894. I have extracted entries for students shown to be from Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Arlington, and the counties of Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, and a few other locations). Typical information includes student name, parent name, hometown, date of entry, and occasional other information. List includes over 200 students. These books are housed in Georgetown University's Lauinger Library.
