CARING CHURCH WEEK

FEBRUARY 28 - MARCH 3, 2000

During this week there will be events in the school for all the pupils of John Ogilvie.  Each year group will have an appropriate themed workshop and an opportunity to visit the various exhibitions around the school. There are Masses planned for each year group with the staff and the pupils planning the liturgy, and composing and also producing the music. An assembly for each year will be taken by members of a 'Core Team' who will also start the school day with morning prayers in the assemly hall.

Monday S4 Event - Concert 'The Bluetonics'

Thursday S2 Event - Tombola

There will be no lunchtime 'event' on the Friday as the school will have its annual Patronal Mass, preparations for this mass will be in St. Cuthbert's Parish starting at 1.40.

Events in local parishes

Evening events are planned in parishes associated with the school.  These plans have not been finallised but will be something like the following :
 

Monday St. John Ogilvie Parish Liturgy in the church on the theme of active Evangelisation. Tea & coffee afterwards with a chance to meet some of the people involved in various active parish ministries. The evening will begin at 7.30pm.
Tuesday St. Ninian's Parish Family Meal Night - pancake evening followed by a slide show on the theme 'Spirituality is not confined to Churches'. The evening will begin at 7.30pm.
Wednesday St. Joseph's Parish An evening with the theme of Justice & Peace, on particular groups that exist in the local community. Followed by light refreshments in the hall. The evening will begin at 7.30pm.
Thursday St. Cuthbert's Parish Liturgy on the theme of Love involving parish orginisations, followed by a free ceilidh in the hall for the younger members of the parish. The evening will begin at 7pm.

The Friday evening has been set aside for a fund raising Charity Dinner Dance in the Banqueting Hall of Hamilton Council Head Quarters.
