MARKETING IDEAS
* Advertising in the paper.
* Advertise in your local
community newspaper.
* Put flyers out.
Rather
than creating tabs on the bottom of the paper for parents to tear off consider
using a
construction
paper pocket or a pocket made from clip art and insert paper business cards
printed
from your computer.
Here
are some ideas of places you can post the fliers:
- local grocery & convenience stores
- local schools in the teacher's lounge
- local colleges on the student boards
- local libraries
- YWCA
- in the doors of neighbors
- on cars in the parking lots at places like Wal-Mart and K-Mart
- on cars at the Youth League baseball fields
- pediatricians & veternarians offices
- pet shops
- book & toy stores
- used clothing stores
- hairdressers
- apartment buildings
* Have an open house -
You can pass out goody bags with a flyer or business card. Decorate
white
sandwich bags with stickers or you can use a hole punch and either thread
ribbon through
or punch
holes that create a picture. Have everyone sign in for door prizes so you
have names
to call
or add to your mailing list.
* Start a newsletter.
* Send pictures of your
day care kids and send them to the office of their day care parents.
They
will certainly show their co-workers. They may say something like, "Look
what my
day
care provider mailed me today! A picture of my smiling child having fun!"
* Get on a referral list.
* Call your local elementary
schools (public and private) and ask to be put on their child care
referral
list. If they don't have one-offer to organize and facilitate one for them.
Also contact
your
local resource and referral agency and ask to be put on their referral
list.
* Give an incentive to
your current families.
* Have a T-shirt made with
your daycare's name on it. Then wear it, wear it, wear it. Make them
for
the
daycare kids, too, and have them wear it on field trips, etc.
* Keep a written schedule
of daily activities posted for parents to see.
* Have written policies
and contracts.
* Make a brochure (one
page of paper folded over) that includes your schedule, philosophy,
goals,
programs, etc.
* Frame and hang your license
and certificates.
* Tell everyone you know
that you are providing child care. Ask friends & family to post
your
business
card at the bulletin at work.
* Carry business cards
with you at all times. Be sure to give them out. They won't do you
any
good
in your pocket..
* Advertise your program
in the Yellow Pages.
* Create a name and a logo
for your business.
* Maintain the outside
of your home as well as the inside in order to attract parents.
* If you are able to drop/pickup,
contact preschools that may know of families that have that need.
* Put a sign out front.
* Have magnetic signs made
for your car.
* Wrap a label or business
card with info on your home daycare around the candy you hand
out
at Halloween.
* Coupons! Ask your local
gas station or grocery store if you can leave a stack of flyers about
your
daycare, and put a coupon on the page with something like 10% off your
first 2 weeks.
* Buy a magnetic sticky
sheet, put your business cards on them and clip out and give them to
friends,
family and clients. Also, give them to teachers, leave them at the doctor's
office, the
library,
the video store, anywhere there might be kids.
* After going on a field
trip, send pictures and a thank you note, and of course your contact
information.
Most places will hang these up for the public to see.
* Contact your local hospital.
Most hospitals send out some sort of a welcome package to all the
new
babies.Ask if you can put a flyer or business card in it.
* Have some inexpensive
pens made with your daycare name and number.
* Leave brochures with
local realtors.
