To My Garden
One of my favorite hobbies happens to be gardening. When we moved into our home five years ago, there were no gardens here and I decided to try my hand at growing a flower garden. I spent many hours trying to plan my garden...which colors to use, the heights of the plants, and the blooming time of each plant to be grown. I found that once many of my plants reached full maturity, they sometimes were hidden by the other plants growing nearby. Hence, I tend to dig up many a plant and move it from one spot to another. You may hear that it is not good to transplant during the midday heat, but I have found that if I water the plants well during the transplanting, they seem to manage just fine. I firmly believe in organic gardening and use no chemicals whatsoever. We tend to use a great deal of composte, horse manure (generously supplied by neighbors' horses) and leftover food (providing it's not eaten by the wildlife first). There are many good books and catalogs available to help you with planning your gardens, and to answer any questions you might have. I have also found many resources for gardeners right here on the net. On this page you will find many of those resources to guide you in planning your own gardens. I have also included some pictures of my flowers, and will add more as the summer passes. There is a lot of work to be done in the gardens, but I get so much peace and joy from watching my plants grow. It is also a terrific bonus to see people slow down or stop to admire the garden That is truly the ultimate compliment of all!
Below you will find the links I mentioned above. I have divided them up into Resources, and Seed Catalogs. In many of the links I have provided there are also many more good links where you will find all sorts of good information.
