Russ was born in Sacramento, California.
Em was born in Hawaii.
Russ and Em live along the Russian River in Sonoma County, which is wine country (Napa- Sonoma- Mendocino counties)
They are near redwood forests, about 65 miles northwest of San Francisco, and 20 miles from the sea
Russ has discovered that writing poetry can be therapeutic, just as raising and caring for birds can be therapeutic. From his front porch, he writes of the shining beauty around him, while at the same time, he examines the deep, dark shadows of his mind.Russ has both Hepatitis B and C, and
saysthat some days he isn't very functional.
His friend, Em, has re-habed birds for years and has taught him some of that kind of
caregiving.
