Crazy Quilt Thread Crochet/Tatting Swap

Coordinator: Cathi McCutcheon

Guidelines for the Thread Crochet/Tatting Swap

1. Threads- size #30 is the largest size, with the finer threads (40, 50, 70, 80, 100) being preferred, since the "Victorian" look is what we are often trying to achieve.

Each baggy should contain one:

2. Motif- up to 4-5 inches in diameter - or the equivalent if you are making little flowers, butterflies etc. (For instance you could make 4 or 5 small things 1 - 1 1/2 inches instead of one large motif.)

OR

3. Laces and trims- 4" to 8" pieces of 1" or wider lace or trim. If it is quite wide you may want to make just 4" or 5" and if it is narrow you may want to make it longer.

4. Swap as many pieces as you want, but don't burn yourself out: up to 10 pieces (or the equivalent) seems reasonable.

That is: One large motif or lace/trim per baggie. (More per baggie if they are smaller motifs, or lace/trim.)

5. Place each of your swaps in a separate baggie.  If you can include a pattern, that would be great, although it is not mandatory.

6. Beginning crocheters and tatters (and other lace makers) are welcome too. Hopefully, those of us who are very experienced will enjoy receiving their pieces, too. After this swap, the beginner's may be experts, too.

7. Handmade lace only please. No recycled or machine-made pieces. Sorry.

8. Please put your address (email as well as snail-mail address) in each baggie and MY address on the outside of each baggie. Just in case your envelope comes open in the mail.

9. Put your baggies (1-10) in a sturdy envelope and mail to me. Include a self-addressed STAMPED (not metered postage) mailer, with enough postage for me to return your goodies to you. International swappers may contact me to work out return mail costs.

10. Deadline to mail to ME (see address below) is August 31, 1999. This is a little far off, but with everyone so busy from now thru the rest of the year, I wanted everyone to have plenty of time. E-mail me cathimc@concentric.net when you put it in the mail, so I can be looking for it. I will let you know when your swaps arrive.

11. Swaps will be mailed to you by September 7, 1999.
