I was born and raised in Escanaba, Michigan.
Our town has a population of 15,000. Many people dont even know that we
are part of Michigan! We are Yoopers!!! A Yooper is a person born
in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.(For you unfamiliar with the geography
of the state, that's the part that is NOT shaped like a mitten, and tends
to get left off maps, logos, stamps, etc. It IS part of the state of Michigan
though and it is NOT part of Wisconsin or Canada!) On my links page please
visit the Yooper Home Page.
I was a Domestic Engineer for 28
years. I married at age 18 and for you that aren't a wiz at math....that
makes me 52 in 2004!. *yipppeeeeeee* I have 2 children that are now young men. Bob who
is 27 and Ryan who is 23. Currently they both have made decisions
to leave the nest. *SIGH* Bob buying a house in Chicago and plans to marry Aum in June of 2004. Ryan spent his senior year of high school in Germany as a foreign exchange student(the learning experience of his life!)and now enrolled at NMU and will graduate with a BA in Elem. Ed in Dec. of 2003.
My home seems to somewhat to small at times......
but I am sure with the next few years I will hear many echos.
I live about 4 miles from Escanaba's main street. I've seen many changes
take place here but have been very forutnate that my home town was the
chosen to raise our children. It is not uncommon to visit with people
you are standing in line with at the grocery store or just wave as two
cars pass each other. At one time I moved to another part of the country but found that there
really wasnt another place quite like 'HOME'.
My interests vary from year to year. I
am a 'Jill of all trades and master of none!'. I have taken classes offered
at Bay de Noc College, William Bonifas Fine Arts Center, and E.A.H.S. Mostly
my engineering job came first and formost. I never considered myself Miss
Suzy Homemaker but have thrived on being there for my family and hoping
to make a lot of great memories. I find that my main interest has always
been people in general. As you can now see....I am loving working on the
puter and learn more everyday. I find myself doing this more often now..
(rolling my eyes)....
*smiling* The friends and buddies that I have met make my day a little brighter
each day...*sniff sniff* (enough of that)
About two years ago my long time friend Vicki spiked my interest in quilting.......for someone that didn't ever remember how to thread my own sewing machine at the time has fallen in love with the art of quilt-making. I have a very hard time giving them away and have been hording them under the spare bedrooms bed. Only my family has received any that I have made. I've gone on a quilt retreat this past summer and find that all the quilters there were as kind as could be. All very helpful and just a great bunch of ladies to be around.
My life has come full circle....I am at the place that I have always wanted to be. I am engaged to a wonderful man who in exchange thinks the world of me....I can only wish that my boys experience this deep a love in their lives.
