Spectrum Cats

This agency is dedicated to the memory of the unnamed stray who posed for the picture used to make the adult Spectrum Cat. His life was taken in his prime, July 1999, by a car.

So, you are interested in the spectrum cats? Perhaps you'd like to try to domesticate one of these half-wild creatures? Well, I welcome you to try! First, I have a few simple rules.

1. You must have a G-PG13 website for your cat to live.

2. You must upload your cat to your own server. That means the IMG tag is "youraddress/imagename.gif" not my address "http://www.oocities.org/Heartland/Lake/3980/cats/imagename.gif"

3. You cannot alter my graphics.

4. Don't adopt these cats out from your site.

5. Once your cat is settled in its new home,
please sign the registry.
(I like to see how the domestication or preservation process is going.) See registered cats.

6. Provide a link to this page (http://www.oocities.org/Heartland/Lake/3980/cats) on the same page your cat's on. This is to help prevent cyber theft and give me some credit. (I did everything from photograph the cat to altering the pic to making it transparent.) You may use one of these buttons if you like.

Now, what are spectrum cats? Well, they are wild cats that can no longer live in the wild because of people feeding them or trying to keep them as pets. They can't fend for themselves anymore and live only on this reserve and with determined people like yourselves.

This is the mascot, a blue cat named Dew Drop. (He is wearing a vest to prevent theft. The cats on the preserve don't have one.)

They are called spectrum cats because of all the colors they come in. Here are the colors:

Red- Hunters and fighters. Reds are aggressive and will attack when they feel threatened. Trained, they make good guards.
Orange- Orange cats are very intelligent and escape artists. They are willing and able to learn but be careful not to let them know more than you!
Yellow- These cats retain their nocturnal instinct so strongly, it is impossible to train them otherwise. Their fur tends to glow in the slightest light, which makes them less efficient hunters. It is thought that their fur became brighter through domestication atempts.
Green- Green cats are the most acrobatic and agile of the cats. They love to dart around fields and play in trees. If frightened they will dart away faster than anything you've ever seen.
Blue- Swimmers. Blues love the water and are expert fishers. They like to live in cool temperatures. If you are fond of your goldfish, you may not want to take in one of these.
Violet- Violets are very afraid of people, but absolutely strive on the company of other animals. Without companionship, they become depressed and refuse to eat.
Rainbow- These are the most domestic of the cats. They love to be indoors with people and domestic animals, but be wary, they are not quite housecats! In an instant, their wild instincts can surface and cause them to bite or lash out violently.
Ghost- These cats are very strange. They are, it is thought, the picture of the original cat, untamed and untainted by man. They are shy and quick. They also seem to have an uncanny camouflaging ability, and perhaps paranormal abilities. These cats are completely independent and are extraordinarily frightened of people. At this reserve, a few ghost-colored cats are kept in their natural state.

Now that you've read (or at least scanned) the basics. Do you think you can care for one of the cats? If not, I wish you well on whatever you decide to do. If so, come this way.

You are led to a clearing where a rock sits and given a leash and a pet carrier. As these animals are still quite wild, I cannot simply call one for you or guarantee you a certain color. I'm afraid you must
sit patiently and wait.

Or perhaps you'd like to raise one of the kittens. They can be found in that enclosure.
