~Dogs~

A boy can learn a lot from a dog:

obedience, loyalty, and the importance

of turning around three times before lying down.

Her wiggly tail, her heart of Gold,

the loving spirit God gave her soul.

Always remaining in our minds & heart,

with "Footprints" that shall never part.

(by Katie Jackson for her beloved "Roxie")

(Katie visited my site and sent this note:  we just lost our most loving female schnauzer,

Roxie del Blue, to heart failure (just turned 14).  We searched many places for an

appropriate epitaph to place on a plaque and finally came up with

one of our own that suited her the best. Thought it might also be

a good one for other precious "children" (angels) of God.)

Pet's Prayer (for any pet)

If it should be that I grow frail and weak

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then you must do what must be done,

For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad - I understand

Don't let your grief then stay your hand.

For this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,

What is to come -- can have no fears.

You'd not want me to suffer, so,

When the time comes, please let me go.

Take where my needs they'll tend,

Only stay with me until the end.

And hold me firm and speak to me,

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you to will see,

It is the kindness you do to me.

Although my tail it's last has waved,

From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve that it should be you,

Who has to decide this thing to do.

We've been so close, we two these years,

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Smile, for we've been together for a while.

If having a soul means being able to feel love

and loyalty and gratitude,

then animals are better off

than a lot of humans.

                                                  (James Herriot)
