~Salute to the Troops~

My email signature at work and at home has this prayer (see below)

added with each email I send.  It is most appropriate during

this time of war that our nation is now involved in.

To date --- Texas has lost 454 military personnel in OEF & OIF.

Pray for our troops -- whether you are "for" or "against" the war.

I say a prayer each and every day and night for them...and I hope you will too..!

                                                                                  ~Deanie~

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform

for us in our time of need.

I ask this in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Amen."

A Different Christmas Poem

The prayer below was given to me by the late Manny Gammage. He had this prayer

printed up on business-type cards and passed them out to his Texas Hatters

customers in Buda, Texas.   Those cards were tucked into the inside many a cowboy hat that

Manny had created -- including mine.   Explanation of the prayer was on the other side of card.

Manny was a very patriotic Vietnam veteran who flew his American flag each and

every day he worked.  His daughter later showed me a framed photo of

her dad - flag on his shoulder - walking out to the flagpole - to raise Old Glory.

It brought back so many fond memories of Manny -- a true American soldier.

May I suggest -- if you have someone over in Iraq or Afghanistan -- that you

copy the prayer below and ask them to keep it tucked in their helmet, cap or hat.

Keep it with them always and let them know that God  is everywhere they are.

Wherever I am GOD is !

The light of GOD surrounds me,

The love of GOD enfolds me,

The power of GOD protects me,

The presence of GOD watches over me,

Wherever I am -- GOD is !

The history behind this prayer above --- during the Vietnam War
