WHY DID THAT BABY COME??

Who of us knew, so long ago, that tiny baby came,
Put on this earth by God above, and Jesus was His name.
He came to earth in human form because the Father knew
His precious Son He'd have to give to save both me and you.
Because of sins we all commit, this Savior did descend,
He loved us so, He chose His fate - the cross would be His end.
But little did those soldiers know this man could not be killed,
And as He hung upon that cross, His heart would not be stilled.
For Jesus died, not by man's hand, but by His own free choice.
The life He gave was out of love, and no man stopped His voice.
They nailed His hands and precious feet, they pierced Him in the side,
A crown of thorns upon His brow was placed before He died.
The sky grew dark, the storm clouds rolled, the day turned into night,
The end drew near, the people cheered, as Jesus looked upright.
"Forgive them, Father", did He cry, "they know not what they do".
And with those words, His life did end, this Holy King of Jews.
But this sad story does not end with Jesus' cruel death,
For in three days He did arise - man did not stop His breath.
And in His life we find our own, for this is why He came,
Eternal life is our reward, the price He fully paid.
