His Choice

HIS CHOICE

Why did I marry this man in blue?
It's a difficult job, and we know that is true.
The wife of a cop is supporting and fair
She must listen to him when no one else cares.
His job's full of danger and stress we can't know
He checks his emotions and anger can't show.
His world's full of crime and respect . . . there is none,
He can't leave his job when his hard day is done.
When he comes through the door, we're the person he needs
A listening ear is the gift he receives.
We offer a spirit so gentle and kind
We choose our words carefully, we give him our time.
The wife of a cop is a rare breed, for sure
She's doing a job that most won't endure.
God chose us, you see, for this job we must do
He hand-picked us each to be faithful and true.
He gave us these men and our job should be clear,
We offer him daily to God in our prayers.
Our lives are not easy, the stress can be rough
But with God as our refuge this job's not so tough.
We're partners together, our union is blessed,
God gave us each other and He knows what's best.
Not just any woman could care for this man,
We're part of his life, and that's part of God's plan.
