1777. Will of Johannes Young, Book 1 # 10, Dated 6 May 1777, Probated 27 May 1777. In the Name of the Lord in the Year of Our Lord 1777 on the 6th day of the month of May, and in the 17th year of the Rule of our Most Merciful King George III of Great Britain. I, Johannes Young, in the County of Lunenburg in the Province of Nova Scotia, Settler and Inhabitant, as I am Feeling Weak, nevertheless Thank God, as I am still in Perfect Mental Health and in Possession of My Memory, as I am Well Aware of the Mortality and Transcience of My Body, and Know that it is the Lot of Everyone to Die, therefore I Make and Order here in the following fashion My Last Will and Testament. I Recommend My Soul into the Hands of Almighty God, who gave it to me, and My Body to the Earth, that it may, according to Christian Tradition at the Hands of the Executor of my Will, be Properly buried, and that it will on the Day of Resurrection be Resurrected in the Power of God. 1]. In Respect of My Earthly Wealth with which God has Blessed Me, I here Set Down the following, namely that my dear and good friend, Mr. Andreas Young become the Executor of My Last Will and Testament. 2]. It is my Serious Wish and Desire that my dear wife, Maria Gertrude (former widow of William Wentzell), receive after my death the Third Part of my Land at Common Street # 6 for Use during Her Life, but may not Sell it or Give it Away, but after her Death it may be Bequeathed to Jacob Andreas and Catherine Jung (Young), also she may be given permission to Live Free of Charge in the House for as Long as she Lives, at the same time I Bequeath to her a Cow, a Steer, 10 of Barley, a Feather Bed, a Horse and a Pillow. 3]. Johann Jacob Andreas and Leonhard Jung shall have My Lot on ??? Street, 15 of 30 Acres, for Themselves and their Heirs to Own, Pass on and Keep Up, but under the Explicit Condition that they Leave to George Jung, who is Presently in Military Service in ??, 10 Acres of this Land, and that they Pay him Off when he asks for this. 4]. To Johann Jacob Andreas and Catherine Jung, I Bequeath for themselves and their Heirs for ever always, Two Thirds of My Half Lot located in Common Street # 6, for them to Own and Use. After the Death of my Wife, they shall Receive the Entire Land with the Buildings located on it, and Divide it into Two Equal Parts. 5]. Catherina Jung shall Receive a Feather Bed, a Pillow, and as well as Half of the Furniture, the other Half, Except for the Big Bible and Sermon Book, which shall go to Leonhardt Jung, and Jacob Andreas shall have the Large Chorale Book. 6]. My cousin Johann Wentzel shall have £ 5 of this Land Money. 7]. It is My Earnest Wish and Desire herwith that after my demise £ 5 of this Land Money go immediately to the Local Protestant Lutheran Church in Cash. 8]. Of my 300 Acres located in Division 2 Letter C #2, 83 acres shall go to Johann Jacob Andreas, Leonhard Jung and Catherina Jung each, and 50 acres to ? (George?). 9]. By the ??, Jacob Andreas, Leonhard Jung and Catherina Jung shall have Equal Parts of it and this shall be their Property. 10]. The Oxen and three Calves Jacob Andreas and Leonhardt Jung shall Divide between themselves and Catharina Jung and Georg Jung, i.e. into Four Equal Parts. 11]. My 6 1/2 Lot Located in the City beside Mr. Arenburg shall be Divided into Four Equal Parts and given to Jacob Andreas, Leonhardt Jung, Catherina Jung and Georg Jung, and my Good City Lot Located in Letter A # 14 shall be given to my Wife to have the Use of for as long as she lives, and after her death Jacob Andreas, Leonhardt Jung and George Jung shall Inherit it. 12]. My Large Carriage (?) shall be shared and Used Communally by my wife Gertrand Jung, Jacob Andreas, Leonhardt Jung and Catherina Jung. 13]. The ?? and the Plough shall Stay by the Half Land and shall be used there. 14]. Leonhardt Jung shall get my Men's Suit and new Fur Cape. 15]. My Sunday Clothes, consisting of a New Suit and a Piece of Blue Cloth, 2 New Vests, one Pair of Brown Trousers, one Pair of Leather Shoes and a Suit shall be Given to Jacob Andreas and his Heirs to Own and Pass on. 16]. Jacob Andreas and Leonhardt Jung shall be Bound to Give and Pay in Cash to my wife Maria Gertruth £ 2 of Local Money. 17]. One English (Cloth?), which there is, shall go to my wife, Maria Gertrand and Catherina Jung for them to Own and Keep by Themselves. 18]. The Hay on the Land shall not be Divided Up and Given Out, but shall Stay with the Cattle until new Grass Grows so that the Cattle Do Not Perish, and Every One of them shall have it's Part and Right. 19]. Of the existing Eleven Geese, my wife Maria Gertruth and Catherina Jung shall have together Seven with their Young, and the other Four shall go to Leonhard Jung. 20]. There are still £ 25 14 Shillings in Cash, of that, as Already Stated above, £ 5 shall be Given to the Local Lutheran Church, and Andreas Jung shall have the Authorization to Ensure that this shall be Spent in the Right Interest. Of the Rest my Wife Maria Gertrude £ 4, Jacob Andreas £ 4, Leonhardt Jung £ 4 and Georg Jung £ 4, also Catherina Jung £ 4, this shall be Given to Them to Own. 1851. Will of George Young, Dated 12 March 1851, Probated 27 March 1851, Witnesses Anthony Vaughan, James Brewer and Peter Keizer. In the Name of God; Amen. I, George Young of Chester, County of Lunenburg and in the Province of Nova Scotia, yoeman, being very sick in body, but of perfect Mind and Memory, Thanks be Given unto God. Calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Die, do make and ordain this My Last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I Give and Recommend My Soul unto the Hand of Almighty God that gave it, and My Body, I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors. And as touching such Worldly Estate where with it has pleased God to Bless Me in this life, I Demise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First, I Give and Bequeath to Mary (Rafuse of Valentine), my beloved wife, One Third of the Lot of Land that I live on with 1/3 of my House and1/3 of my Barn, and my sons to supply my wife Mary with Fire Wood of my Back Land as long as she remains my widow. I also Give to my son Francis, the House that he built on my Property with 20 feet of Land all around the said house, and the Privilege of a Road to the Shore and the Privilege of the Wood Lot and my Meadow up Gold River and the Seventh Part of my Vessel and the Privilege of Planting on my Island to him, his heirs and assigns for ever.
