With the help of Cyndi Pote in Johnson County, IN we found a ROE family in Clark County, IN that is probably where my ROE line started.
Cyndi was also able to look up the 1850 IA Census information for me. Joshua M. Roe and his family were in the Town of Lancaster, Keokuk County, IA. In the Census he was listed as a blacksmith and was born in Ohio. The parents of Elizabeth, his wife, live one house down, and her brother Noah, lives right next door to Joshua & Elizabeth.
Joshua M. ROE b. abt 1822 in Ohio, m. 26 Feb 1840 in Johnson County, IN to Elizabeth JACOBS d/o James and Mary "Polly" (Watts) Jacobs, Joshua is dead by 1858, when Elizabeth marries Peter Knapp (see source 4)

A county History says that Joshua Roe began blackmithing
in 1848 at the crossing of what is known as "Three Notch
