STORY #1
My dog, Lady, is a schnauzer, and she is blind.  She is very sweet and I love her like I would love my own sister.  Lady is 7, and she got a disease that made her blind.  Sometimes I get mad at her, but I always love her.  She is always running into things and the other day, I was walking her, and her leash snapped because she was chewing on it and she took off. Well, we were in a park and near a road. She ran near the road and I screamed so loud that everyone stopped. I realized that day how much my dog meant to me.

STORY #2
Four years ago I adopted two burnt orange butterfly Tabbys.  The two brothers, along with the mother and a sister, had been placed in a garbage bag and put in a dumpster. Mom got adopted; sister found a home.  I took the 2 boys: Jerry Lee (4 pounds) and Randolph (3 pounds).  When my vet checked them over the only thing they did not have was distemper.  Many shots, two operations each, and a whole ton of Iams later.  Jerry Lee (20 pounds) and Randolph (18 pounds)ran my house. And on cold windy days when it's pouring rain when I look at these two beautiful, massive beasts, sound asleep on  on the bed (they prefer it made promptly in the morning and the comforter plumped), tummys full and looking forward to still another day of naps, pounce lap sittings and petting, I think how very lucky I am that they share my life.

Some callous somebody, with intent to harm, should never enjoy the love and companship of any animal ever.  That's a curse.

STORY #3
Someone cruel in our neighborhood went around and poisoned cats with antifreeze.  We lost all five of our cats in one day.  I mean one day to watch them suffer and see the pain in their little eyes as they were taking their last breath, it hurts me to know there are ruthless hatred people out there like that.  If they can do this to animals, think of what they can do to humans.  I would love to speak up for our animals, for I feel they have rights too.  I went to a cat haters page and that just tore my heart out.  All you have to do is search for cat haters and I tell you some of that junk would want you to get over the internet and crawl through the screen and rip some of them people apart.  I don't care if people don't like animals, but they do not have to kill them or poison them.  I am so mad still about the loss of my animals.  You can visit my site at http://members.tripod.com/~lovelyone2/index.html and also my daughter's at http://members.tripod.com/valswolf/index.html.

STORY #4
Two and a half years ago my fiance and I were going to the local humane society to donate some supplies that we no longer needed for a wild bunny that we cared for who was hit by a car.  While there we saw the most adorable puppy playing in the pen attached to the adopting room.  I instantly fell in love with him as did Rob, my fiance.  We decided to adopt the dog who was given the name Thursday because he came in with four other brothers and sisters.  The shelter was apparently given the wrong information about the puppy because we were told that he was 5 months old and would be about 50 or 60 lbs.  After adopting him we took him to our vet who looked at us and said "you will be lucky if this dog is 5 WEEKS old."  We were amazed!  He was already 30 lbs!  We kept him anyway because both of us love big dogs.  We named him Worf because we are both Star Trek lovers.  Worf began growing quickly.  I should say that his legs began growing quickly.  He walked around with his legs wobbling!  Just like that scene in "Bambi"  where he is on ice.
Worf is now two and a half and is the best dog in the world!  I say that with heavy bias :)  He is 111 lbs and over 6 feet tall on his hind legs.  He is gentle and kind and very in touch with our feelings.  He is wonderful with kids, in fact he is the kids in our neighborhood favorite dog.  They all love to play with him.  He is excellent with other dogs and is the obvious alpha male around here.  He loves our cats as well.  We could have never asked for a better dog.  I can honestly say that we will only ever adopt an animal from the humane society or SPCA.  Thank you for bringing us together!

STORY #6
When we moved into a new flat in a Mumbai suburb; we didn't know what was in store for us.
She was a street cat and we named her Mau. Initially she would just hang around when we got down from our second floor flat but then she soon became a member of the family...napping, sleeping, eating with us.
Then we saw her being in the family way. We were excited and all ready to welcome the new ones. At three in the morning, she delivered four cute kids. We actually celeberated the occassion. Mau had so much confidence on us that she would leave the tiny ones to us and go out of sight for a stroll. We called them Tullu, Illu, Archie and Jungu.
We lived every moment of their growing up. By the time they were a three months old, they had started recognising the sound of our car and bike. When my husband would come from work, they would climb all over him. We didn't have a human kid but our family was of seven.
All through our society had objections to our keeping the pets. We didn't have a clue about this.
Then the unfortunate happened. They were missing..all the four of them. Mau would look at us with questioning eyes, asking us of the whereabouts of her children. When she would not understand our answer, she would go to her pet corner and cry. It was heart rending. We looked for the children all over. Three days and nights we didn't sleep. In the middle of the night we would set out to look for them.
Finally my husband could find Jungu, eyes wide open, staring at us-asking us that why we let them go. He was dead. We resigned to the fate that the other three had also met the same fate.
We cried...Mau would still come but something was missing.
It was cruel on the part of the society to have put the four in a sack and left them a mile away. Why did they do. No amount of fighting or talking helped and we decided to leave the society to a new place.
We still have their pictures with us. They were our kids and we miss them.
