Dreams to Reality

Welcome to an On-line Workshop
for the From Dreams to Reality Patch!

Cadette Girl Scouts may earn a career exploration patch known as From Dreams to Reality. This is one of the requirements for earning the Cadette Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout may earn, but any Cadette Girl Scout is encouraged to earn this patch, even if she doesn't plan to earn her Silver Award.

This workshop is set up to present the activities in a pre-set working order using resources available on the World Wide Web. Simply move to the next activity after completing each page.

You will need to remain connected to the internet most of the time. There are some worksheets that you will download. It is assumed that you have Microsoft Word to be able to use and modify the worksheets.

When you are done, you will have completed activities 1, 2, 4, and 6. You will then need to select and complete either Activity 3 or 5 in order to complete the patch.

This workshop is divided into 3 Sections:

Section I: Imagine the possibilities!

In this section you will research careers that sound interesting to you. You will complete worksheets on the information you have learned. You will find real-life job advertisements for these positions. And then you will write your resume and practice interviewing for a job.

Section II: Look Wider Still!

There are many jobs that women don't often think about when choosing a career. In this section, you will explore those occupations. You will also learn about starting your own business. Imagining a business you might want to start, you will calculate how much you might charge for your product or service.

Section III: Spend time with salaried women.

To complete the patch, you will need to move off-line. Select either Activity 3 or Activity 5. Be sure to ask lots of questions!
