The In 1985 we were a happy family of 5:
dad, mom, Benjamin (14), Jason (10), and Melody (4)
when we decided to go on the adventure of our lives:
Adoption! And what a wonderful adventure it has been.
We never dreamed how much this experience would
enrich our family and our individual lives.
The first step, of course, was to carefully evaluate
why we wanted to adopt. After we were sure
of our decision, the next step was to evaluate our resources to be
sure we would be a competent adoptive family. At this point
we realized that our home was too small for a larger family,
so we sold it and bought another larger home in the same neighborhood.
At last we felt ready to begin the adoption process!
There are several good Adoption Agencies in our area
and we collected information from them all.
We chose to try Catholic Community Services
first because
their procedures and goals seemed to tie very closely to ours
and because they had a very good Korean Adoption Program.
After filling out many application forms, going to several meetings
and long interviews, medical exams, FBI fingerprinting,
and tense days of waiting, we received the happy news
that we had been accepted as a prospective adoptive family.
The first photos we saw of each of our girls are at the top
of this page. The moment we saw the photos we had no doubt
that these beautiful babies were to be our daughters. We will be
forever thankful to the birthmothers who chose life for their children.
We understand that our children need roots. It probably won't be possible
for them to have all the information they will want about their pasts,
but one thing we can give them is an understanding of
and a love for their Korean Heritage
