A park was built in Saint John NB in memory of John Ryan and Jacqueline. It is located in the city's south end. The park was officially opened on July 1st 1998. A contest had been held by McDonald's Retaurant for children to name the park. The winning name was "RAINBOW PARK" and the winners were: Ashley Dimarcl,Javier Gonzalez,Ashley Quinn,and Chelsey Boffest all from Saint John area elementary schools. They will all receive a free meal at McDonald's for their family every month for a year.

As of July 2nd $177,000 had been raised for the park with a fundraising goal of $200,000,the majority of which has already been taken in by corporate sponsors and fundraising efforts.
Ronald McDonald's Children's Charities donated a $20,000 grant to make the park wheelchair accessible and will build a swing for disabled children.Special thanks to Glen Calkins,Saint John McDonald's owner who is a director for RMCC. McDonald's also donated $1 for every happy meal sold during the week of March 8th 1998.Seven local area McDonald's donated the proceeds from the February-March coin box donations to the park as well.
Saint John Common Council approved the spending of $75,000 on the project.
One of the most publicized efforts was a cancelled world record attempt at the longest line of continuous line of pennies.The organizers did not get enough people down to place the pennies but they did raise $20,000 from donations.Local area school children had collected pennies for months.
