PRAYER IN HONOR OF ST. LAWRENCE OF BRINDISI: Almighty God, for the glory of Your Name and the salvation of souls, You conferred upon St. Lawrence, the spirits of counsel and fortitude. Grant us, in the same Spirit, to know what we are to do, and through his prayers, to do what we have come to know. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. |
PRAYER TO ST. LUCY, PATRON OF EYE AILMENTS: Relying on your goodness, O God, we humbly ask You, through the intercession of St. Lucy, virgin and martyr, to give perfect vision to our eyes, that they may serve for Your greater honor and glory. St. Lucy, hear our prayers, and obtain our petitions. |
"THE POWER OF PRAYER" Composed by St. Maximillian Kolbe: The day was long, the burden I had borne Seemed heavier than I could longer bear And then it lifted-but I did not know Some one had knelt in prayer; Had taken me to God that very hour, And asked the easing of the load, and He, In infinite compassion, had stooped down And taken it from me. We cannot tell how often as we pray For some bewildered one, hurt and distressed, The answer comes, but many times those hearts Find sudden peace and rest. Some one had prayed, and Faith, a reaching hand, Took hold of God, and brought Him down that day! So many, many hearts have need of prayer. Oh, let us pray! |
PRAYER TO ST. MAXIMINA (MARTYR): We beseech Thee, O Lord, through the intercession of St. Maximina, look down upon Thy people that they may be strengthened unto piety, obtain the remission of their sins, be delivered from the devil and his deceits, be filled with the Holy Spirit, and obtain life everlasting. Amen. |
PRAYER TO ST. MONICA: Dear St. Monica, troubled wife and mother, many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime. Yet, you never despaired or lost faith. With confidence, persistence, and profound faith, you prayed daily for the conversion of your beloved husband, Patricius, and your beloved son, Augustine; your prayers were answered. Grant me that same fortitude, patience, and trust in the Lord. Intercede for me, dear St. Monica, that God may favorably hear my plea for (mention your petition) and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. |
NOVENA PRAYER TO ST. MONICA Remember, dear St. Monica, the joy that flooded your heart when Augustine, the son of your prayers and tears, turned his life over to the Lord. Please present our novena petitions before God in Whose presence you stand. Obtain for us, if it be His holy Will, the graces we request through your intercessory power, that we may experience the happiness of answered prayer. |
PRAYER TO ST. MONICA FOR OUR CHILDREN: Great St. Monica, patroness of fathers and mothers, please take our children, especially those who have turned from the ways of God and His Church, under your protection. Let them always remain faithful to their baptismal vows. Give them strength to walk always in the ways of the Lord, despite the temptations and false values they find in the world today. Grant that they may share with you in the joys of eternal life in God. Amen. |
PRAYER TO ST. MONICA FOR SERENITY IN ADVERSITY: O glorious St. Monica, after a lifetime of tearful prayers, fasting, and sacrifice, you were at last granted the happiness of witnessing both your husband's and son's conversion. After your son Augustine returned to the faith, you said: "God has granted this to me in more than abundance. What am I still doing here?!" A few days later, you died happily at peace with God and His world. Grant us that same peace, faith, and acceptance of God's Will, that we may live all our years in serenity and go joyfully to our heavenly home, secure in the knowledge of eternal salvation. Amen. |
PRAYER FROM THE BREASTPLATE OF ST. PATRICK: Christ, be with me. Christ before me. Christ in me. Christ beneath me. Christ above me. Christ on my right. Christ on my left. Christ where I lie. Christ where I sit. Christ where I arise. Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me. Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me. Christ in every eye that sees me. Christ in every ear that hears me. |
PRAYER TO ST. PEREGRINE, PATRON OF CANCER PATIENTS: O, St. Peregrine, you who have been called the "Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you, who for so many years, bore in your own flesh that cancerous disease which destroys the very fiber of our being, and had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more; you who were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction, ask of God and Our Lady the cure of all the sick persons whom we entrust to you, especially (mention them here). Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall praise God for His great goodness and mercy. Amen. |
PRAYER TO ST. PETER FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS: Blessed Apostle Peter, to whom God has given the keys of the kingdom of Heaven, and the power to bind and loose, grant that we may be delivered through the help of your intercession from the bonds of our sins. O, Holy Shepherd, Prince of the Apostles, pray for us that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. |
NOVENA TO ST. PHILOMENA: Illustrious Virgin and Martyr, St. Philomena, behold me prostrate in spirit before the throne on which it has pleased the Most Holy Trinity to place thee. Full of confidence in thy protection, I beseech thee to intercede for me with God. From the height of thy Heavenly country, deign to cast a look upon thy humble servant. Spouse of Jesus Christ, console me in temptations, protect me in the midst of danger, obtain all the graces necessary for me, especially (mention your request), and above all, assist me at the hour of my death. Amen. |
PRAYER TO ST. RITA: Holy patroness of those in need, St. Rita, so humble, pure, and patient, whose pleadings with your Divine Spouse are irresistible, obtain for us, from your crucified Jesus, our request (mention your petition). PRAYER TO ST. SIMON DE ROJAS FOR THOSE WITH SPEECH
DEFECTS: O glorious St. Simon De Rojas, you were cured during your childhood of serious speech impediments through your devotion to the Most Blessed Virgin. Obtain from the Most Holy Trinity, through her intercession, the remedy of speech defects in those for whom we pray, or at least the spirit of Christian resignation and patience to bear them, if this should be God's Holy Will. We ask this, as we ask in all things, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. |
NOVENA TO ST. SIMON DE ROJAS FOR ANY NEED: Heavenly Father, You have given the Church a special grace in the life and example of Your servant St. Simon De Rojas. During his life, he was filled with love for You, and his love was reflected in the compassion he felt for those in need. Give us that same burning love, Father, and like St. Simon, may our love for You manifest itself in our love for others. Through Your Grace, Father, St. Simon led others to greater devotion to Mary, the Mother of God. Grant all of us a greater devotion to Mary, and through the prayers of St. Simon may we come to acknowledge Mary as our Mother and our remedy for any need. Loving Father, we pray for the grace to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel. We cannot do it alone, but ask for Your help and guidance. Through the intercession of St. Simon, may we possess the graces necessary to live a life which is committed to loving You and our brothers and sisters. We ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen. |
PRAYER OF ST. TERESA OF AVILA: Lord, grant that I may always allow myself to be guided by You, always follow Your plans, and perfectly accomplish Your Holy Will. Grant that in all things, great and small, today and all the days of my life, I may do whatever You require of me. Help me respond to the slightest prompting of Your Grace, so that I may be Your trustworthy instrument for Your honor. May Your Will be done in time and in eternity--by me, in me, and through me. Amen. |
