Kaitlyn Rae is here :o) She arrived on Saturday, March 25th, at 6:09 a.m. Kaitlyn weighed in at 5 pounds
10 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. She has dark hair (which I'm hoping will turn insanely curly
soon) and brilliant blue eyes. She's absolutely perfect!!
On Friday, March 24th, my mother and I were busy cleaning the house. (Sorry mom, but I just had
to put this story in here, LOL) Upon surveying my kitchen floor, we both agreed that what it needed
was a good old-fashioned, get on your hands and knees type scrubbing. So, off we went. Actually,
mom did all the scrubbing, I just followed her around with a towel to dry as she went. Anyways, the
whole job took probably an hour, but it was hard work, hehe. After that was done, I decided to go and
take a shower and get dressed. Well, a short time after my shower, my water broke and the race was on,
so to speak. When I told my mom her first statement was "do you think scrubbing the kitchen floor did it?"
*S* So, for as long as we'll remember, the story will be "the day mom and I scrubbed the kitchen floor, which
made my water break, which brought Kaitlyn into the world". LOL
So, back to the chain of events. After my water broke at 4:15 pm or so, we waited around the house for a little
while waiting for the contractions to start (they didn't)...so we left for the hospital and checked in at
6:15 pm (give or take a few minutes). They verified that my water had broke, and by this time I was feeling
very slight contractions, but nothing to write home about. They checked me into my room and the waiting game
was on. By the time the tubes and devices were hooked up to me, the contractions were coming at a fairly good
pace, and the epidural was called in. Now, I've never had an epi before. I've had a spinal tap for my first
borns c-section, but never an epi. Although it hurt like I don't know what going in, it was the best
thing since sliced cheese! No pain from the contractions, no feeling uncomfortable...I just slept, hehe. Since my
contractions weren't strong enough to bring the baby down (I stayed at 5 cm forever), they decided to
induce me to make them faster and stronger. I remember the nurse remarking to me that I should be glad
to have the epi because my contractions were off the chart. Anyways, to make a long story short, the nurse
came in at 5:30 am to check my progress and found that I was ready to go. She ran to get the doctor and I
just layed there looking at my husband over my oxygen mask (I wasn't feeling too hot), and I told him this was it,
the moment of truth...would it be a girl or boy. Well, two pushes later, Kaitlyn Rae made her
world debut, and looking at her through a wall of tears, I watched as she stuck her tongue out at me, hahaha.
What a way to say hello eh? We stayed in the hospital until Monday afternoon, then came home to the waiting
arms of grandma and grandpa and the boys, who were very very anxious to see their little sister. Kaitlyn had lost
5 ounces while in the hospital, so she only weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces when we brought her home.
*UPDATES*
August 14th...Where has the time gone??? Kaitlyn is doing just great and she's growing like a weed!
She's up to 10 pounds now, give or take a few ounces, and she's getting very long. Her eyes are changing
to what looks like is going to be green. Her hair is still dark like her daddy's. She always has a
smile on her beautiful face, a smile that gets even bigger whenever she hears daddy's voice. I am bound
and determined to make her first words mommy, hehe. Her sleeping schedule is still out of whack, but not
as bad as before. She likes to wake up at midnight for some play time and singing lessons. :o) Overall,
she has a very sweet disposition, never fusses unless she's just plain starving, and she is very, very
alert to her surroundings. She's is very strong and likes to stand up...I have a feeling she's going to
be an early walker. She has two favorite toys; a blue and pink stuffed rhino named Dot...Dot has
a rattle inside and she just loves to throw it across the room to hear it make noise; and she has
a Raggedy Ann doll that she spends hours just staring at. She's so much fun, doncha just wish they could
stay this size??? That's all for now, check back again soon!!
