Have you ever felt so low,
thought that mankind was a selfish creature?
Walked through your daily life,
wondering which pain would next be featured?
Have you ever wondered why,
you look around and see such pain?
You look into your child's future,
and wonder what they will ever gain?

We had lost our faith in the human heart,
wondered how we would survive.
Alone in a world that was "me for me"
trying hard to keep the hope alive.

You came to us, with a gentle touch,
and gifts to make our day brighter.
But the greatest gift you gave to us,
was to make our heavy hearts feel lighter.

One day, in time, we hope to pass on,
a gift so lovingly shared.
To a family in need of faith in man,
Given by those who care.

Do you miss me?
The way I miss you?
Do memories cross over your heart?
Making your cloudy day seem blue?

Do you wonder what I’ve been up to?
Or how my day has been?
Do you dream of those stolen moments?
We shared way back when?

Does your heart feel empty?
Does it long for the touch of mine?
Do you miss the bond we created?
During that very short time?

Do your eyes fill with tears?
Over the silliest little thing?
Do you close your eyes and remember?
Tell me, what kind of feelings does that bring?

Do you miss the sound of my laughter?
Coming over the phone line?
Does the absence of my voice make your heart hurt?
In the same way it does mine?

Does your body ache to be held?
By those arms that held you tight?
Does it long for the comfort and warmth?
That you relied on during the night?

Does your mind play tricks on you?
Everywhere you go?
Do you see me walking down the street?
In a car? Through a store window?

I feel this way daily since you’ve been gone
And the pain is more than I can say
It’s all I can do just to make it
Through another cloudy day.

My Friend, I Care

Don't tell me that you understand, or tell me that you know
Don't tell me that I will survive, how I will surely grow
Don't tell me this is just a test, that I am truly blessed
That I am chosen for this task, apart from all the rest

Don't come at me with answers that can only come from me
Don't tell me how my grief will pass that I will soon be free
Don't stand in bias judgment of the bonds I must untie
Don't tell me how to suffer, don't tell me how to cry

My life is filled with selfishness, my pain is all I see
But I need you, I need your love, unconditionally
Accept me in my ups and downs, I need someone to share
Just hold my hand and let me cry, and say, "My friend, I care."

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity to keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.

I pray I find a little quiet,
Far from the daily family riot.
May I lie back--not have to think,
About what they're stuffing down the sink,
Or who they're with, or where they're at...
And what they're doing to the cat.

I pray for time all to myself,
(did something just fall off a shelf?)
To cuddle in my nice, soft bed,
(Oh no, another goldfish--dead!)
Some silent moments for goodness sake.
(Did I just hear a window break?)
And that I need not cook or clean...
(well heck, I've got the right to dream)

Yes, now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my wits about me keep,
But as I look around I know...
I must have lost them long ago!

How can I explain to my weary heart
that unseen circumstances keep us apart.
How can I make it open up and see
that as much as it hurts you don't belong to me.

You have a life that's all your own
I have my life, yet feel all alone.
No one can tell me that love doesn't cause
a pain to the soul of someone who's lost.

Your world is changing and growing so fast
I wonder if our love will be able to last...
Through all of the barriers, all of the pain
two hearts on the line and nothing to gain.

I try to be happy, show you I'm here
and not bring you down with sorrow and tears.
But it's hard to do when all I can see
Is a world without you, no one but me.

How can I tell you how I feel...
to make you see the feelings are real.
And although our love is forbidden for now
I'll always be hoping we'll be together somehow.

I dream our dreams and hold them dear
I look for our star when the night is near.

I don't want to dream tonight
Make them stay away.
Sandman do you hear me calling you?
I'm sorry, you can't stay.

For dreams are filled with all the things
Things that make a pure heart soar,
Things that will never come to be
Things that can be no more.

Just let me lay here in the dark
With nothing on my mind...
But a starless sky as black as coal
And nothing there to find.

No happy thoughts to make me smile
No beauty to make me sigh,
No promise of a future bright
No rainbows in the sky.

For you see dear Sandman, I'm tired
My spirit has been taken away,
From sitting and waiting for dreams to appear
Through yet another day.

My dear angel, are you there?
The pain is now too much to bear.
Take me to the place you’ve set aside
For my broken heart to go and hide.
I’ve tried my best to make it right
Oh Angel I tried, but I lost the fight.
It’s all falling down, my world that I know
Falling all around me, so fast yet so slow.
People and things are not as they seem
It’s all make believe, it’s all a dream.
I thought I’d found happiness and a love so true
But happiness isn’t here, and true love is few.
I live in a cloud colored by pain
No silver linings, rainbows, or joy to gain.
It’s cold and lonely sitting here all alone
I yearn for that place where I can feel at home.
Can you take me there to that place far away?
I can’t wait much longer, you must take me today.
Let me run in the fields with the wind in my hair
Let me sit by the brook and take in the air,
Let me make a home to call my own
