Comments: My ex-un-husband is at least ODD or CD or Sociopathic (depends on what difinition I read). He's a con artist who has eight or nine other children besides the three he has with me and about eight or nine other wives. He neglected to mention that he was arried to someone else when he married me. He has never every paid child suppor for any of his children. He was violent with me, including threatening to blow my head off with a .357 magnum revolver and pushing me through a window, requiring 4 stitches. ND nothing is ever his fault. The thing is, he gets away with stuff like this all the time! (There are reasons why people are ex-spouses.) I had three children with him. I strongly belived that nurture was a stronger influence than nature. I was wrong. We don't have formal diagnoses on these four individuals, but they all have aspects of ODD: (Father: 62 yrs): ODD/LD/Depression; (Son, 19yrs):ODD/LD(induced by MMR shot)/Depression; (Daughter, 16 yrs): ODD/Depression/Substance Abuse/alleged Suicide Attem t; and (Son, 14 yrs): ODD/LD. SO how do I get "experts" to listen to the facts instead of listening to these "sweet" lying "ODDs" so at least the youngest one can get some help and my new baby girl (and my husband) have a chance? How did you finally get the experts to listen and to hear you?

Comments: My son, Thomas, is six years old. In July of 1998, he was diagnosed with a genetic birth defect known as Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome, or VCFS. There are many, many signs,traits, symptoms, features, medical problems, feeding, emotional, behavioral, learni g, developmental and mental problems associated with this syndrome. Some children have many of these issues, some have hardly any, no two children exhibit the same problems, they are like snowflakes. Thomas has a variety of problems associated with this syndrome; however, the ones that are giving us the most challenges and grief are the behavioral/emotional ones. He was dx'd with ODD and borderline ADD this past April. Early on and before all these diagnosis', we just thought that Thomas was going throu h the "Terrible Twos" "Horrible Threes." Then at age four we ran out of cute little names for his behavior. Some days, I feel as if our life is a daily battleground and who is winning? No one. He is truly a wonderful gift from God, but the rages he has ver the most trivial things are simply tearing our family up. This year, at age 42, I found my path back to God because of all this, and I truly believe I would go insane if not for my faith. And I am truly grateful for this and the other websites I ha e come upon, for giving me info and support. God bless you all.

Comments: I will have my own personal e mail address in July, I do not want to use my work e mail. I read the comments of parents. It is such a tragedy to have a beautiful child, smart and gifted, and have them be o.d.d. I am well read and educated, and have raised two sons. I however, am totally unprepared and unarmed for the demand of raising an ODD child. It is frightening, it is sad, and I take life one day at a time. I thank God everyday that I have the self discipline and understanding of illness to not be an abusive parent. There is indeed a fine line between love and hate.

Comments: I am getting very depressed and sad by all of this. The only somewhat good thing is knowing that there are others that understand my pain. My daughter's father is scizophrenic and himself and his 2 sisters are also manic depressive. Ididn't know any of th s untill it was to late , I was already pregnant , he was diagnosed after. I also had Toxemia while I was pregnant and was hospitalized a couple of times . It seems like all the odds are against her . I love My daughter , but am finding it hard to cope. S e is presently staying with my mother whom herself was recently diagnosed with a malignant Brain Tumour(cancer, terminal) I feel totally overwhelmed by it all, so far I am still sane.
