Rice Turkey Burgers


2 Tbsp. oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp. ground sage or 1 Tbsp. fresh sage, finely chopped
1 lb ground turkey or chicken
3 cups cooked brown rice
2 Tbsp. ketchup
salt and pepper to taste
6 hamburger buns

Heat half of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.  Add onion, apple, garlic and sage: cook 3-5 minutes until onion is tender. Remove from heat.

In a large bowl combine ground meat, rice, ketchup and onion mixture:  season with salt and pepper.  Shape into patties.

Heat remaining oil in skillet over medium high heat. Add burger and cook about 6 minutes per side or until cooked through.  Serve on toasted buns with your favourite burger condiments.
