Thunder explodes across the sky as sparkling spirals giggle and dance on the evening horizon
And glittering brilliance criss-crosses in a blaze of splendor.
Patriotic rainbows arc as stars take their rightful place in the field of blue
And the unfurled flag waves in the eager breeze of excited anticipation.
Images of hidden heroes come into focus and stories of valor begin to take voice.
Signatures are written in hearts and heavens...
Founding fathers, loyal souls, wandering pilgrims
Past Presidents and present patriots,
Illuminated names and ordinary lives,
The great and the minute pieces fitting together into the puzzle Liberty plays.
Cannons boom in remembered moments of courage and sacrifice.
Rockets soar and light in a panorama of glory.
Eyes fill with awe as myriads of colors weave together into a glorious quilt
While bands send notes of merriment and majesty heavenward.
And birthday candles burn in independent litany and sparklers send off little bits of lightning.
Together we sing Freedom's song.
And the union marches on.
