Iīve been twice in Russia, the first time in winter (Christmas) and the second one in summertime, I prefer Moscow and Sant Petersburg in winter than in summertime, in winter it is more genuine. we saw some kids and people buying ice creams, the temperature was about -25C, incredible!!!, we did the same and it was really cool.

Itīs a long trip on a train to go from Moscow to Saint Petersburg, we went on "The Red Arrow" train, during the journey we saw a lot of snow, the snow sometimes came into our railway car, I donīt know it got in. Saint Petersburg is a very beautiful and cold city and Neva river crosses it. You must go and visit the Hermitage. The Neva river was so frozen that you could walk on it. If you find a man with a young bear be careful of that bear, itīs very mean and it bites. When we were in Saint Petersburg we only had sunlight from 10:00AM to 3:00PM, of course if we were lucky. That is common for half of the year, the in the other half, the sunlight is much longer per day. Many people have in their homes a double curtain on the windows for protection.
The Red Square is huge and beautiful, I enjoyed the changing of the guards change in front of Leninīs tomb, Gumm store is in the same square and you must go there, the cathedral of San Basilio is really nice. I stood in front of Leninīs tomb and watched the soldiers who guard it. It seems impossible, but they do not move even in such cold weather, they are good soldiers. Itīs funny and different to see the MacDonalds fast food place in Moscow with a lot of big and expensive cars infront of it, people line up to get in as if it were a luxurious restaurant.
