1 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 dash salt
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, water, cream of tartar and salt in saucepan. Bring to boiling, stirring till sugar dissolves. Very slowly add sugar syrup to unbeaten egg whites in mixing bowl, beating constantly with electric mixer till stiff peaks form, about 7 minutes. Beat in vanilla. Frosts tops and sides of two 8 or 9 inch layers or one 10" tube cake.

Pasta Salad Dressing

12 T. salad oil
6 T. white wine vinegar
2 tbs. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. dry basil
1/2 tsp. pepper
dash of nutmeg

Place all ingredients in a jar and shake vigorously.
