This is our supposed coat of arms. Ronzo Roberts sent a request to a company which did some research and this is what they came up with.

Roberts is old germanic. "Ro" means fame, "bert" means bright. So I guess it means "fame bright", or "shining fame?" Roberts also came from the time of William the Conqueror. It came from a Viking word meaning 'robbers' because the vikings came and plundered England. Eventually the name became 'Roberts/Robards/Robberds'.

The family tree below seems to be accurate. It is listed in the book by Seaver called Roberts Family History. I had to guess that Randall (b. 1704) was the son of Thomas (b. 1674).

        It is not sure how Randal (one "L") is related to Thomas, but the Seaver book says Randal is related Francis, not that Randal (one "L") is the son of Francis. The dates make sense that Randall (two "L"s) is the son of Thomas.
        This is interesting because http://www.ls.net/~newriver/nrv/Paula_Anderson-Green.htm says Randall and Martha immigrated to Pennsylvania, then their son John moved to NC.

- 1764: The brig Freemason, arrived December 27, 1764, from city Cork, co Cork, Ireland to Boston, Suffolk co, Mass. A John Roberts was travelling with Edward Moor. (This is probably a different John Roberts.)
- 1782: In 1782 Grayson Co, militia list. Probably a different John as our John died in Surry Co, NC.

Elizabeth later married Jesse Cornett after John died in 1844 (She was Eliz. Cornett in 1850 census). In 1870 census she was counted in the household of her son Micajah. In the 1880 census she was living with Lucy (her daughter) and Weldon Edwards.
