Don't Laugh At Me

Sung by Mark Wills

Written by Allen Shamblin & Steve Seskin

I'm a little boy with glasses, the one they call a geek
A little girl who never smiles 'cause I've got braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels to cry myself to sleep

I'm that kid on every playground who's always chosen last
A single teenage mother tryin' to overcome her past
You don't have to be my friend, but is it too much to ask

Don't laugh at me, don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Some day we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me

I'm a cripple on the corner
You've passed me on the street
I wouldn't be out here begging if I had enough to eat
And don't think I don't notice that our eyes never meet

I lost my wife and little boy someone crossed that yellow line
The day we layed 'em in the ground was the day I lost my mind
Right now I'm down to holdin' this little cardboard sign

Don't laugh at me, Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Dont laugh at me

I'm Fat, I'm thin
I'm Short, I'm tall
I'm deaf, I'm blind
Hey aren't we all

Don't laugh at me, Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me

I hope that this song touches your heart as it has mine. Do you judge
others by the way they look or can you look past the outside and see
what they are like on the inside? Do you hear about their past and
judge them for what they have done or are you understanding and
able to see the person that they have become from the hardships they
have had to endure in their life time? I feel we all need to be more
understanding of each other.

Have you been guilty of some of the things that this song is talking
about? What are you or can you do about correcting the way things
are? How can you help someone who is dealing with things like this?
Do you want to be a loving, caring, understanding person? Will you
be the person that someone can lean on, talk to, even cry on your
shoulder if they need to? The choice is yours!
