Am searching for any info on BRYSON/BRISON ancestors. Great grandfather Hugh Hamilton Bryson went to AR as a young boy for several years and returned to Jackson Co., NC, where he was born. Parents: Lafayette Columbus Bryson and Ruth Jane Mathis, according to death certificate. Hugh married Johanna J. Plott in Young Harris, GA, 1890. In 1893 they had their 3rd child in Bee Branch, AR, Georgia Bryson, b. 7 April 1893. Have been unable to locate Lafayette and Ruth Jane after their marriage in Macon Co, NC,1850. Hugh was born 1853 in Jackson Co., NC. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

August 12 Update:
I've just learned some additional information re: my Lafayette C. Bryson, b. 1828, NC. He married Ruth Jane Mathis 11 Dec. 1850, they had three children; James P (B.); Margaret C. and Hugh H. from 1852 - 1857.
We know that Ruth Jane remarried Lafayette's uncle in Jackson Co., NC just before 1860, because she was listed in 1860 census with him. But her children were not with them. We also have information from Hugh's obit that he was taken to AR as a young boy, to return to NC. a few years later. We also know that after Hugh married he took his family, wife and two children back to AR and their youngest daughter, Georgia Bell Bryson, was born in Bee Branch, AR.
What we are trying to determine: Were the 3 children left in AR during the 1860 census? Is there any way that you can check the census for us?
They were back in NC during the 1870 census with Ruth Jane and her husband Henderson Bryson.
Also, is there some way of checking to see if Lafayette died while in AR? Or is buried there?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

rsrobe@acxiom.com

Trying to find some information on ROBERSON. George Washington ROBERSON and brother, Webster, immigrated to Van Buren County sometime at the turn of this century from Tennessee. George was born in 1871, date and location unknown and died 18 Mar 1957. What I'm looking for is information about George and Webster before arriving in Arkansas. Who preceded them? We only know their mother was named Mary and was born in 1884 in Tennessee. Ancestral ties supposedly go back to Ireland, by way of North Carolina? George married a Virginia GIBBONS born 8 Jan 1880, location unknown, whose father, Bill GIBBONS, also came to Van Buren County from Tennessee. Her mother was Sara BROWN. Any leads on the trail would be appreciated. Ron Roberson

genanut <genanut@nehp.net>

Am researching Baker, Adjet(Adget)Mckenzie, s/o John Webster and Mahala Glover BAKER, was born in Madison County, Alabama in 1838 and married Julia GLOVER, they lived until the early part of the 1900's in Brownsboro, Madison County, Alabama and then made the move to Bee Branch Arkansas. Why? I haven't been able to find out. Adjet and Julia BAKER had six or seven children, M.Lavinia, Mckenzie, Johnson(James)T., Mary A., Johnnie(dau), Charles Raymond, which ones traveled with Adjet and Julia are uncertain,if any. But it is thought that Charles and Johnson (James) remained in Alabama.Julia was the daughter of James and Matilda Greene GLOVER, and the granddaughter of Burket GREENE. Am most interested in hearing and finding out anything on this family as I have little on them after their move to Arkansas, would dearly love to know where Adjet and Julia are buried, if in Arkansas.

bettis@ksu.edu

I'm still looking for the birthplace and parents of Richard (Dick) Mannon HARNESS. Could this info be obtained in the 1900 census or elsewhere? Any comments or advice would be most appreciated. The records I have indicate the following: Richard (Dick) Mannon HARNESS b. 1861 where? married 20 Jul 1889 Van Buren Co to Martha WILLIAMS b. 13 Aug 1869 VB Co. Thomas Jefferson HARNESS b 6 May 1892 VB Co m 25 Jan 1912 VB Co Nellie Ursula DUNCAN b 18 Dec 1891 VB Co

The record I have states that Dick was born in Van Buren Co, but a fellow researcher so graciously found that not to be true. It could have been in a nearby county? Now I REALLY don't know what to think about this one. Thanks for your help.
