The reason I was using this spelling is due to a very bizarre experience with hypnosis. As a psychologist, I have een doing a lot of reading on hypnosis as a therapeutic tool. Several colleagues recommended a book called "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weiss, M.D. It tells of this doctor's discovery that many of his patients were cured of physical and mental ai ments after undergoing past-life regression hypnosis, something that he didn't even believe was real. Being a skeptical, scientific-minded person, I set out to prove there was "no such thing" as past-life regression. Imagine my surprise when my psycholo ist had me focus on a theme in my life and travel down a tunnel and through a door. Poof! The experience I had was more than a dream because I could smell odors and feel emotions and experience the death of the person in question. It actually felt like I was having a heart attack! I experienced the life and death of an elderly woman I "knew" was named Falana Siegritz who used herbs and teas to treat and heal people. A priest named Francisco told her that the townspeople could no longer visit her cabin in the woods because he thought she killed his mother. She had given his mother a tea to alleviate the pain but she was going to die anyway. This priest is now my son in this lifetime! After "visualizing" the death scene I floated above this cabin and c uld see a forest and beautiful mountains. I guessed that it was Switzerland. Today, while looking someone's number in the phone book I ran into the correct spelling! I was thrilled to see the name is associated with Basel, Switzerland. I did not perce ve a time period associated with this lifetime I will let you know if I come up with anything else! After this experience I'm convinced the phenomenon is real!! He lived and worked in Lyons New York as a carpenter. He died there and was buried in the Rural Cemetery in 1890. Though he lived in southern Germany that was predominately Roman Catholic, he was "Evangelical"-Lutheran. I have found their names in some genealogical data bases, but the information is incomplete for the generations after them. The LDS record shows only one child, stillborn. In fact, in addition to that deceased child and one other, they had four children who lived to adulthood: George Leonard Rea, Lila lizabeth (Rea) Procter, Harry Lee Rea, and Martha Eloise (Rea) Jenkins - my mother. I saw that mother's name was incorrect in one data base - it is Martha Eloise, not simply Louise. The LDS has grandma Laura Caroline's name as Laura Carolina and grandp as Harry Rea, which is not his complete name, even though that is how he was known. Comments: I have been searching for this surname for several months without luck because I was using the phonetic spelling "Ziegritz" or "Ziegrist"! The reason I was using this spelling is due to a very bizarre experience with hypnosis. As a psychologist, I have een doing a lot of reading on hypnosis as a therapeutic tool. Several colleagues recommended a book called "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weiss, M.D. It tells of this doctor's discovery that many of his patients were cured of physical and mental ai ments after undergoing past-life regression hypnosis, something that he didn't even believe was real. Being a skeptical, scientific-minded person, I set out to prove there was "no such thing" as past-life regression. Imagine my surprise when my psycholo ist had me focus on a theme in my life and travel down a tunnel and through a door. Poof! The experience I had was more than a dream because I could smell odors and feel emotions and experience the death of the person in question. It actually felt like I was having a heart attack! I experienced the life and death of an elderly woman I "knew" was named Falana Siegritz who used herbs and teas to treat and heal people. A priest named Francisco told her that the townspeople could no longer visit her cabin in the woods because he thought she killed his mother. She had given his mother a tea to alleviate the pain but she was going to die anyway. This priest is now my son in this lifetime! After "visualizing" the death scene I floated above this cabin and c uld see a forest and beautiful mountains. I guessed that it was Switzerland. Today, while looking someone's number in the phone book I ran into the correct spelling! I was thrilled to see the name is associated with Basel, Switzerland. I did not perce ve a time period associated with this lifetime I will let you know if I come up with anything else! After this experience I'm convinced the phenomenon is real!! Comments: My great, great grandfather was Johann Heinrich Siegrist and he was born in Tübingen in the Königreich of Würtemberg in 1833. He emmigrated to the United States in 1854 and served in the 1st New York Engineers during the Civil War. He married Louisa Sutter (related to John Augustus Sutter -of Sutter Mill fame) in 1868. He lived and worked in Lyons New York as a carpenter. He died there and was buried in the Rural Cemetery in 1890. Though he lived in southern Germany that was predominately Roman Catholic, he was "Evangelical"-Lutheran. His father was from Zürich, Switzerland and the spelling "Siegrist" indicates being Lutheran as the Sigrist spelling indicates one is Catholic (source: the town hall of Tübingen, 1989). Comments: My connection to the Siegrist family is through my grandmother, Laura Caroline Siegrist, who was from Kansas. At age 17, she married my grandpa, David Harrison Rea, and moved to Miller County, Missouri. I have found their names in some genealogical data bases, but the information is incomplete for the generations after them. The LDS record shows only one child, stillborn. In fact, in addition to that deceased child and one other, they had four children who lived to adulthood: George Leonard Rea, Lila lizabeth (Rea) Procter, Harry Lee Rea, and Martha Eloise (Rea) Jenkins - my mother. I saw that mother's name was incorrect in one data base - it is Martha Eloise, not simply Louise. The LDS has grandma Laura Caroline's name as Laura Carolina and grandp as Harry Rea, which is not his complete name, even though that is how he was known. It seems they have traced the name back to the 16th Century and (here comes maybe a big surprise) it is assumed that this branch of Siegrists originated from Albania, and, further back, from Turkey (Name: Sukru).
