Introduction  Editors Page

At last Issue #11 is ready to go to the printer and to mail. This issue again contains a number of interesting additions to earlier genealogical entries on several Family Branches. I hope that these will continue in addition to any corrections and additions you may find, discover or know about.

I also hope that we can continue to find and obtain copies of more older Finnell Family Bible records of any kind. It is a great service that we are able to share them through these pages of Loose Branches and Roots. Any Bible records or like materials would be very welcomed even if they contain only one Finnell names, they are important to preserve and share.

A second area of interest are the burials of Finnell Family Members in older cemeteries across the country. I am not aware of any additional Finnell Family Cemeteries, but if there are please let me now and share them with me. Any older burials in any cemetery would be very welcomed and shared.

Everyone may also be interested in the following book I found a while ago and found of interest. It is The Destruction of the Granary of the Confederacy by Michael G. Mahon; Published by Stackpole Books, 1999. This is a good look at the Valley where the Finnell Family had many roots in the years prior to and through the War. If you as readers find old County, Town and Church/Parish Histories that contain Finnell materials they would also be welcomed for the files.

I would also be interested in starting a collection of Business letterhead, and business cards etc for Finnell family members past and present. These could provide a interesting collection for future family members. Newspaper advertisements would also be included. I have a couple of very interesting examples that I hope to include in the next issue.

The issues of Loose Branches and Roots are placed on the Family web site as we have time and usually not for some time after the issue is published and one bad part is they do not contain the every name index issued with each issue. The Index is made to assist you in finding information in each issue with some ease, I hope you find it of use.

It is my hope again that you enjoy this issue as much as I do in putting it together. If you have any comments, suggestions or materials you would like to share here please let me know. If you know of others who would be interested in this project please let me know and I will contact them with some information about the Finnell Family Archives and the collection.

QUERY ???

Has any one seen a copy of the book?

Clasping Hands with Generations Past by Emma Rouse Lloyd.  Said to contain some information on the Benjamin Porter and Ann Campbell Porter, the parents of Ann Porter who married William Finnell.

If you have seen this book I would like a copy for the Family Archives.

DAVID VANCE FINNELL has asked lately if the Freedom Baptist Church near Paint Lick and Nina Garrard Co, KY was still standing and holding Services? In 1819 Rev CHARLES FINNELL (1762-1842) purchased the land for the church to be built, shortly before he moved with so many other Finnerll's to north central Missouri. Does any one know the answer? The Churchs graveyard markers have been transcribed but no Finnell stones were recorded.
