How to Clean House on Short Notice

Living Room

Pick up shoes, books, coats, and anything else that doesn't belong, and stuff into hall closet. If you don't have one, a bedroom closet will do, or a utility room.

Straighten pictures and lampshades, and cushions on couch and chair.

Empty ash trays, and slap a rag across the top of furniture to thin out the dust.

Bathroom

Wipe off all surfaces. Put as many items as you can,(old brushes, combs, worn out toothbrushes), into medicine cabinet.

If you have no utility room, put dirty clothes in tub and close shower curtain. Even if you don't have a shower, a shower curtain comes in handy for hiding stuff better left unseen.

Don't forget to poor bleach into the toilet.

Splash a little pine scented cleaner in the toilet and your bathroom will have that freshly cleaned aroma.

Bedrooms

Push everything on top of dressers, (jewelry, ragged out bra's and panties, books), into top drawers.

Items that will not fit can be put into boxes or trash bags, and hidden in various closets around the house.

Pull bedspreads up from floor and pull over pillows.

Put all clothes not on hangers or in drawers in closets. You can sort the dirty from the clean later.

If you have kids, just shut the door to their bedroom. There's seldom any hope there.

Kitchen

If you don't have a dishwasher, put dirty dishes in oven and under cupboards.

Place two week old leftovers in vegetable bins. If they refuse to fit, empty and put dishes in oven or under sink.

Wipe off counters, table, stove, and icebox with your trusty bottle or jug of pine scented cleaner.

Make sure freezer is in good order in case guests wander in for ice water.

When you have finished all rooms, vacuum entire house thoroughly, and put away all cleaning items.
