GENEALOGY

My hobby is genealogy. The following lists some information and links on my Swim family and related surnames as well as my Mother's family, Hastings and related surnames.

I welcome any additional information on these families, any corrections, and especially, any additional links to these families and related surnames.

DESCENDANTS OF ALEXANDER SWIM

Alexander Swim, born circa 1770, was in Kentucky before 1795. He is first found in Bourbon County, Kentucky, in that portion that later became Clark County, then Montgomery County and then Bath County, Kentucky. He married Margaret Trumbo, either soon after coming to Kentucky or possibly before then and migrated with her family John and Mary (Custer) Trumbo. It appears that Alexander Swim as well as Margaret Trumbo's family came to Kentucky from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and before that Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia).

Alexander and Margaret (Trumbo) Swim moved to Fleming County (now Rowan County), Kentucky in 1805 at Cranston, near Morehead, Kentucky. Alexander is listed as a Captain in the Cornstalk Militia of Kentucky and served in the War of 1812, under Capt. Thomas Evans Co., Col. Wm. E. Boswell's Regiment. Alexander died in 1814 either in the War of 1812, or as a result of injuries or disease from that war. Margaret died in 1835, and listed all her children in her will.
