a few years ago (1997) for the first time, and I did fairly well; winning 1 Blue Ribbon, and 3 Red Ribbons. I entered peach butter, zucchini bread, Mixed Citrus Marmalade, Carrot-Celery Relish, herbal vinegar, and Dutch Apple Pie Jam.
In 1998 I entered several new things: Blueberry Jam, Spiced Cherry Jam, Canned tomatoes, Vidalia Onion Chop Chop, Dilly Beans, Applesauce, Blueberry Vinegar, Caramel Spice Apple Butter, LimePine Marmalade, CranCider Jelly, and Patti's Giardiniera.
I had originally planned to enter some canning stuff this year, but I had made other culinary promises to a friend. Needless to say, I didn't have enough time to do both, so I skipped the fair this year. It is unfortunate, because after viewing the winners today, I know I could have placed easily . I won't skip next year, that's for sure!
