Nancy Underwood, Lillian Morrison, Allen Drachman, Sally Hale, Daniel Hooton Jr., and Jonathan Hooton are among our family historians. Nancy, Lillian and Allen have provided many of the historical photographs.

From a letter from Nancy to Byron: "You are probably wondering how I ended up with the Ferris family pictures, (Have a lot of the Watt family as well) and all the other goodies. After Grandfather died Mother kept them for awhile and then before I knew what she had done she had given them to someone else in the family. Of course I had a fit! Anyway, somehow they ended up with your uncle Ray. One day out of the blue the postman brought me this big box from him with a note enclosed. He said he had copied them all and had asked Winnie who they belonged to and she told him they were mine! I was so thrilled to have them and will always be grateful to her for that. They have given me so much pleasure and I have been able to share them with the rest of the family."

Daniel Hooton Jr. provided the pension documents. Jon Hooton took the photographs at Pittsburg Landing and the photograph of the tomb of William Henry Edwards. Sally is also an expert on the Ferris family as well as the Whitaker family, and has written much of the text. Be sure to use the links on the bottom of the web page for William Henry Edwards.

Because the internet is sluggish, especially during heavy traffic, and because we are allocated limited space on our web site, I severely cropped most of the photographs for faster loading and smaller file sizes. I did the cropping very reluctantly. Many of the photographs were composed much more nicely in their original forms.
