John Edwards and Deborah Penny Edwards, father and mother of Joseph Alfred Edwards, grandparents of William Henry Edwards, great grandparents of Francis Marion (Edwards) Ferris. John Edwards was born Nov 9, 1791 in Southampton, Suffolk County, NY according to the cemetery records at Oakland Cemetery. According to one of the pension documents the year was 1790. He died Dec 22, 1858, Sag Harbor, Suffolk, NY and was buried Dec 1858 at Oakland Cemetery, Sag Harbor, NY. He married Deborah Penny January 21, 1814 at Sag Harbor. The photograph of John Edwards was taken ca.1855. He lived in Sag Harbor, Suffolk County, New York. John Edwards was in the war of 1812. Deborah Penny was born Dec 21, 1791 in Bridgehampton, Suffolk, NY according to the cemetery records at Oakland cemetery. Her birth date is given as 1790 in the book "Foster-Penny-Squires Families"by Alonzo Foster. Deborah Penny Edwards died Jan 8, 1877 at Sag Harbor, Suffolk, NY, and also was buried at Oakland Cemetery. The book by Alonzo Foster, page 69, lists the children of John Edwards and Deborah Penny as follows. Names and some dates are also in "East Hampton History" by Jeannette Edwards Rattray, 1953.
