WILLIAM H. MINER AGRICULTURAL INSTITUTE
Summer Experience in Equine Management, Summer 1997
Responsible for feeding, general care, and health of a herd of 20 horses. Trained specific animals for certain events (especially Western Pleasure). Groomed and prepared horses for local, regional and national horse shows. Responsible for breeding and management records, both computerized and handwritten. Handled horses for breeding--handled stallions and mares for teasing purposes, collected stallions, prepared mares for artificial insemination, and prepared media for stallion semen. Assisted with planning and execution of Miner Institute's Fifth Grader Days-an educational agricultural program for local students. Assisted organization and operation of Miner Institute's Horse camp sessions, including giving Western lessons, lounging lessons, instruction on horse behavior, nutrition, showing, etc. Prepared and educational viedo and manual on equine conformation and motion as a research project.

General Student Labor-fed, hayed, watered horses. Cleaned stalls daily. Gave medication and medical treatments as necessary. Instructed visitors on the history of the UConn Morgan Herd.
Animal Science Department
General Student Labor-assistant to Dr. Ian Hart, Department Head-organized animal science library, kept animal science department straightened and cleaned.

OLD CANAL VETERINARY CLINIC
May 1995 to Present
Veterinary Receptionist
Scheduled appointments for a five doctor practice. Admitted patients for office appointments, surgeries, and emergencies. Worked with clients determining the products to be most useful using suggestive selling techniques. Assisted clients with decisions concerning their pet's health and well-being, if an office visit was necessary, and general animal questions. Maintained telephone contact with clients. Responsible for computer record keeping, billing, product inventory. Worked with veterinarians to determine most efficient methods for client scheduling and client relationships.
Veterinary Technician
Assisted veterinarian in office visits. Medicated and treated animals as necessary. Prepared medication per direction. Performed laboratory tests. Assisted with major treatments and surgeries. Determined with clients which trteatments and products were needed. Responsible for upkeep of client records. Worked with both veterinarian and client to determine a correct and efficient course of treatment.

SIGMA ALPHA AGRICULTUARL SORORITY
Past Offices: Treasurer, Vice President
Successfully enhanced recruiting process with fellow sisters resulting in a fourfold increase in membership. Assisted with organization of Agricultural Awareness Days-an educational program for preschool students. Worked with chairpeople on the development of Professional Night-a career exploration program for students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. As Treasurer, collected dues and maintained sorority bank accounts. Also initiated fundraising activities. As Vice President, organized sorority education for membership candidates and active sisters. Also worked with individual chairpeople on philanthropic events.
