As it is written, There is none righteous, No, Not one: Romans 3:10 (King James Version Bible)Maybe you're thinking, "Who, me?" Perhaps you look at yourself in comparison with the people around you -- friends & family -- or better yet, people like Charles Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer. Your life seems significantly better. Let's view an analogy. Say there is a sheep in a green pasture; his wool against the green background appears to be spotless...perfectly white. However, if the green grass was covered with a blanket of snow, you would plainly be able to see all its imperfections. This is how our lives look when we compare ourselves with the holiness of God. Quickly, our imperfection...our sin nature...becomes visible. You see, you were created to have a relationship with the God of Creation! Amazing, isn't it?! The unfortunate part is that because of your sin, you are separated from him.
Jesus tells us, "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:5 (King James Version Bible) If you are to repent you will be willing to let Jesus become Lord of your life and turn from your sinful state! You may still be thinking I'm not such a bad person . . . and if I were to examine you by my standards I would probably agree. The bad news is -- we are examined by a much higher standard -- the one Jesus set for us . . .PERFECTION! Can we attain this on our own?. . . NO...that was a lost cause from the very beginning! We all came into this world demanding attention, (not to be confused with care), testing our boundaries & often crossing them, yearning for material possessions (often only because someone else has something and we want one), clawing and scratching our way to greener pastures. Why are we like this? . . . Because we are born creatures of flesh and bone . . . spiritually dead . . . and with a void in our heart that is made by the lack of a union with God ... We are just following our fleshly desires . . . we demand satisfaction. Sadly, we will NEVER find it that way....!
But there is HOPE!! The second thing you must realize is that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." I Corinthians 15:3,4 says that what I received, I passed on to you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. So, not only did he die for you, but he rose again! He's alive! He wants very much to come into your heart, into your life, into the "void" that was caused by man's fall from grace in the Garden of Eden as stated, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12 Romans 6:23 states that this death is the wage for our sinful state ...."but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. .......OUR ONLY HOPE!!!! How do we attain this gift?...........................
Jesus wants this very much! He loves the dope dealer down on the corner.....He loves the shoplifter down at your local Wal-mart, he loves that drunkard that seems to touch so many lives, he loves the liar that we all know, but the thing that should first concern each of us is that He loves YOU and it may seem that we are not as bad as some of those people but we are in the same sinking boat! ....We're SINNERS! By His grace He provided us with a way to place our personal sins on Him as our atonement to God the Father. In other words he was crucified because of Jarrett Vick's sins. (You can insert your name where my name is because this is a personal thing. . . Between you and God . . . I can't interfere . . . Your pastor can't interfere, not even the Roman Catholic Pope can interfere, absolve, or in any way assist you in establishing your relationship with Jesus!)(*note- I am not candoning the beliefs of any orf these mentioned - - - I am proclaiming to you ---"THE GOSPEL") He calls to us for a relationship in Revalation, " Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20
If you truly feel the conviction of the Holy Ghost . . . something deep within your soul urges you that now is the time . . . You are ready to turn your life over to Jesus' guidance . . . You feel the need to make peace with God . . . simply pray this childlike prayer......
Our Father who art in heaven, I realize I am a sinner....I realize that you are the only true God and that your son Jesus paid for my sins past, present, and future. And he has the power to save ME, a lost sinner, and restore me to fellowship with you. Please, forgive me for all my sins and throw them into the sea of forgetfullness. Help me turn my life over to Jesus as one of his followers from this point on. Give me strength to resist temptation and steer me away from that sin I can not resist. Teach me to love You Lord God and help me to make your statutes mine. Let me be a conduit for Jesus' light to shine in this world of sin. Now, Jesus I invite you into my heart as my lord and Savior. Please save me and make me a new creature! AMEN!
