  • As a young girl she made quilts with her mother. Currently my aunt and my mother are in possession of matching quilts that my grandmother and great-grandmother made. I recall her telling me about the cutting of the materials "just so" and the painstaking time it took her mother to sew it all together.
  • She was very handy with a needle and did a lot of needlepoint artwork and knitting. I remember her while she was in the retirement that she would knit blankets for the laps of individuals in wheelchairs. She amazed me with her generosity and spirit.
  • Her favorite subject was birds. We are all in possession of many of her handiwork and figurines of birds. Her great-grandchildren always enjoyed trying to count how many birds they could count in her apartment.
  • A wonderful poem by an unknown author was read at the memorial service for my grandmother and it was very fitting. It is titled "I'm Fine". Click on the link to view the poem.
