Malissa Belle Bastin Lawhorn (1860 - 1930)

Here is a WW I era family photo of Malissa Belle (Bastin) Lawhorn, daughter of Edmond 'Ed' and Mary Ann (Carman) Bastin. Included in the picture are Malissa Belle, her daughter Bessie, holding an unknown toddler, her daughter-in-law, Fannie Cochran (wife of Jason Edward Lawhorn), Fannie's brother Walter, and Fannie's children: Lewis, Charles, and Jason Edward. Judging from the estimated age of the children, the picture is from about 1919-1920. This puts the children at 9, 5, and 2 approximately; Fannie at about age 30; Bessie at about age 28; and Malissa Belle at about age 60. The names of all the individuals are marked in the photograph.

Ed Bastin was a great great great grandson of Thomas and Hannah (Brockman) Bastin of Caswell County, NC, making Malissa Belle a great great great great grand-daughter of Thomas and Hannah Bastin.

Malissa Belle was probably born in Casey County, KY, as that is where her parents, Ed and Mary Ann Bastin, were married.
