Stained Glass

By Jan

In 1991 after moving to Florida. I decided to take an adult education class at one of the local high schools in the evening. What started as just a night out, became more than just a hobby. I even ended up teaching the class myself.

I haven't set up my studio since moving in 1998, maybe I should. Working with stained glass has become a lost art.

This was my first major project.
It took me 6 months to finish

This tiger is a large planter in which I have put a small light.
I would not suggest a beginner work with black glass.

I made this carousel horse for my daughter's bedroom window.
It is made with white opaque glass, clear hammered
glass and a English muffled glass as a border.
It now sits in front of the fireplace in our new home.

This mermaid was my favorite window panel
It was purchased by a gentleman visiting the area
And now hangs in his sailboat off the coast of Texas

Viewed in morning sunlight.

This white swan is bordered in pink opaque glass with a mauve inner border.

It has since been finished with a whitewashed wooden frame

Viewed just after sunset.
It is now a window in my shower area.

I was contracted to do this window for

a southwestern styled home.

I made this peacock because I fell in love with the blue glass!
The clear background is glue-chip glass

This is the second parrot I have made with the same pattern.
I gave both away as gifts.

This panel was a gift to the gent
who made the frame for my daughters window
He made a gun cabinet to fit the panel
It was made entirely out of scrap glass.

This small panel was given to a friend who
watched my daughter after school

This is a small toucan which hangs on a large mirror.
Again, made from scrap glass

This is a sample of small gifts that I make.
They are 12" round and a very quick gift to make.
