Gary's line of Altenburgs has been traced back to Fred K. Altenburg. The 1850 Federal census shows Fred emigrated from Hannover, Germany, about 1850. 11 of Fred's children were born in NY (more than likely New Lots - Brooklyn), and his other child was born in NH.

She married Sigismund Keller (b. 1816 in Baden), and they emigrated to PA in the early 1850s, settling in Antis Twp., Blair, PA. Although their children were all born in Saxony, Audrey's husband's great-grandfather, John Ernst Altenburg, appears in the Buffalo, NY, census by 1850.
Jan is seeking information on her husband's grandmother, Elizabeth Altenburg. She was born about 1890 in Philadelphia, and married Robert Kemp, a Russian immigrant, who was a musician while in the military. Elizabeth later lived in WA state, where she gave birth to a son (who she gave up for adoption), and later to a girl.
Wayne is seeking info on his grandfather, Raymond ALTENBURG, b. 7 January 1899, in Owasso, MI; d. July 1964 in Higgins Lake, Roscommon, MI. He possibly had a brother: Alvin, b. 1901 - d. 1967, same town and state. Parents: (Rubin) Leo ALTENBURG of Germany and Katherine BERGMAN. Raymond married Florence JOHNSTONE in St. Paul, MN, after which they moved to the Detroit area. Raymond and Florence had 3 children: Raymond (who later went by the name of JOHNSTONE), Loretta, and Wayne's mother, Florence. Raymond disappeared off the map after divorcing Florence. Wayne would appreciate any additional info, and is willing to share what info he already has.
